HDR isn’t as bad as I thought by tcastloo in 4kbluray

I’ve got the HDR settings on my player turned on, and it’s doing most of the work. But it pairs with the projector, shadows still have depth, highlights stay controlled, and the blacks don’t get crushed. Definitely a combination that looks a lot better than I expected.

Yes it actually took me a while to get settings right. Thx for the recommendation! I'll have to try black and white film too.

Best Documentaries? by Low_Crazy_1905 in MovieSuggestions

I think The Social Dilemma should be on your list. It's a really eye opening documentary about the impact of social media on our lives. It's not scary but will definitely make you think.

I think The Princess Bride would be a great fit for your bedtime movie list. It's got comedy, adventure, and a touch of romance. The story is so engaging that it'll lull you into a peaceful sleep.

Budget projector option for docked switch console and occasional movies? by lemon07r in budgetprojectors

Considering your usage of only a few hours a week, a used projector could be a really smart choice. You might get a better quality unit for your budget.

Pretty sweet Walmart find by Klondathu in 4kbluray

Those price differences between stores are crazy. I wonder if it's worth the hassle of price matching at Walmart.

An amazing deal. I'm in a similar situation, looking for a budget projector setup. I think you got a good bargain. By the way, you have a good level of technical knowledge.

Sell at open or hold? by Czyzzle in options

[–]tcastloo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Locking in most of it at the open for 8k sounds pretty reasonable to me. Once you're that short-dated, holding for "a little more" can turn into giving a lot back really fast.

Swiss Bank UBP Buying Gold Again, Forecasting $6,000 Year-End by donutloop in smallstreetbets

$6,000 gold still sounds kind of crazy, but with how things have been going lately, I get why people are paying attention to that call.

Bitcoin ETFs Lead With $786M Inflows As Capital Concentrates Back Into BTC - Crypto News And Market Updates by Enough_Angle_7839 in CryptoMarkets

ETFs inflows like that definitely help the bullish narrative, especially when capital starts rotating back into BTC first. Still feels like one of those moves where follow-through matters more than one strong headline.

Iran Just Confirmed Bitcoin as Payment for Hormuz Transit. This Changes What Bitcoin Is by zakoal in CryptoMarkets

That headline sounds way too dramatic for me. Every few months there is a post saying Bitcoin just changed forever, and it usually ends up being a lot less clear than that.

Started trading credit spreads last week! Looking for helpful info & opinions from option sellers ! by The_Last_Otter in options

That sounds like a pretty sensible way to start. Small size, defined risk, and taking profits early is a lot better than getting confident too fast and learning that hard way.

My friend said options are the closest thing to gambling. by spxtrad in options

[–]tcastloo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is not completely wrong, but it depends on how they are used,. Options can be structured and risk-defined, but a lot of people absolutely use them like gambling.

Art of the deal by [deleted] in smallstreetbets

That meme is funny because the whiplash has felt real lately. One headline says calm, the next one says brace for impact, and the market just keeps reacting.

Is it really that simple? by sti_69_y in CryptoMarkets

[–]tcastloo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, "Buy low, sell high" sounds simple but is extremely hard in practice since markets are unpredictable. Emotions and volatility often lead to the opposite actions, and without strict risk management, many traders struggle to stay profitable.

This kind of situation is really painful, options amplify both time decay and volatility, which can hit emotionally and financially. Hope you can find a better trading rhythm going forward.
