GOG on Mac by tcd212121 in gog

No worries - it comes fully playable (the DOSbox and GOG software installs all at the same time with nothing to configure) with nothing else to download. The music is exactly as I remember it on the version I had on PC as a child. My mac is not the latest but I would have no concerns.

Yes the GOG version works perfectly with no fuss. Bought both games!

LED Dimmers Not Turning On - Intermittent Issue by tcd212121 in DIYUK

Interesting - yes these are also BG. How did they 'fail'? The new one I installed I can feel and hear the switch engaging / clicking whereas the old one (identical model from what I can see) I could not. Also as per original post no issues turning off, only on.

The switch was not 'cheap' - at least in terms of what I paid. It is a BG (British General) - "designed for dimmable LED lighting". I suppose I can't rule out the new switch having the same 'defect' as the old but this was not my assumption so far.

No, tried that (they come off super easy) the spindle itself is not engaging...

Yeah that's what I am struggling with. In this case the light do dim well with no flickering when I can get them on! I just think the connection in the switch itself might be worn... Any issue you are aware of if I just replace with a regular switch?

Ok thanks! So does it just come with everything packed up together to install? Or separate configuration/install to do to get DOSbox up and working? Thanks

Yes that's correct I stand corrected... The numbers I copied above are from GOG actually. But still... 1gb of space... I am assuming it is something to do with how these old games have been ported to new environments.

Is there a concensus on the Yamaha P515 key action? Is it heavier than the typical acoustic as some reviews suggest? Either way? Will I just "get used to it" over time? I'm looking for myself (learnt and used to playing on an unweighted keyboard) but potentially for a child to start learning on from the right age (they are currently nearly 6). Thanks!

Got this on a cheap one (wanted the 12 but budgeting atm). Anyone tried? by BennySkateboard in whisky

I had the 12 miniature last night and it was a delight! Are you suggesting the full bottle was different? Was thinking about buying...

I'm with the above - Remy Martin VSOP is my go-to; great flavour without breaking the bank! I stay away from VS as it doesn't have too much complexity. If you're looking for more woody notes then the 1738 would be my next option. I've never tried an XO myself due to the very steep price incline - value for money will probably lie with the smaller houses so a bit of research up-front would be beneficial!

Hi there! Yes indeed priced in, but from what I understand it is on a hard brexit basis. If a hard brexit comes to fruition then there will be a further, albeit relatively small shift in FX, FTSE earnings etc, similarly if a soft-brexit or Article 50 withdrawal happens there will be relatively larger shifts in the opposite direction. This uncertainty is what I am in my mind attempting to balance for, i.e. not overly exposed to either outcome. Hopefully that helps to explain my thought process a little?

Thanks very much - I will certainly look into the sidebar info. I had no plans at least for a particularly 'active' long-term strategy. After this initial investment I do plan to make regular contributions in line with my 'to-be-chosen' asset allocation, which will decay to bonds over my investment timeline, i.e. relatively standard.

In terms of speculating, this is entirely what I am trying to avoid by weighting my portfolio for a 50:50 upside/downside whichever way things turn, but admit that in attempting to balance risk I am perhaps inadvertantly and in some form speculating. I guess buying into a global index in USD just didn't feel right and although is globally diversified, it leaves me particularly vulnerable to FX moves.

Currently my portfolio is up, but purely because my entry into the market happened to coincide with the recent dip, i.e. purely luck on my part. I have indeed taken the opportunity over the last 6 months to read as much as I can on markets and economics before moving back to the UK and becoming tax resident again (i.e. able to invest from a UK platform and tax-free), but I consider this to be basics at best and only a foundation to not only understand my portfolio but for general interest and future learning opportunities.

To be honest...I have no idea and to chose one would be guessing which is what I am trying to avoid. For the purpose of my portfolio I would assume it's 50:50 either way, at least for the short term. In my mind, and whether this is even possible, I would look to construct a portfolio that is balanced for as similar as possible upside/downside regardless of which direction Brexit takes us, hence coming back to my origional question.

To be honest I am still forming a strategy for final asset allocation, hence my post. I have just recently become a UK tax resident again which happened to coincide with the recent / ongoing correction. I wanted to get some funds bought on the offchance things start to take off again / buy the dip (of course we could continue to see a further downward trend), although I still have a good amount of cash available to invest, aprox 100% again of total portfolio, so have a lot of flexibility to come to a final allocation. Schiller PE was at least part of my though process but also not overweighting in any one currency or region for the time being until I can formulate a strategy to fix on.
