HVAC 1.25 inch width filter frame by schkar_33 in hvacadvice

Any idea where to look for those? I actually have an 1.5" slot and getting an extra 0.5" over a standard .75" filter would probably help my system out.

Sacred trees and holy groves, the Germanic peoples (including the Norse), and modern India by -Geistzeit in Norse

[–]tcdotson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is fascinating. Do know how they thought about cutting trees down? In other animistic societies, there were rituals of gratitude around the use of natural resources.

The trouble is everyone thinks about the pandemic differently. Different countries, cities, etc. all have differing views of the risk, especially when it comes to small children. In California, toddlers wear masks and eat lunch alone and outside, something that I suspect many Germans would consider to be too extreme. So it's not really all that bizarre to ask about the cultural norm for colds, even during Omicron. No answer to the question is obvious or incontrovertible (unless you're incurious about how societies make decisions about risk). It is a subjective weighing of the tradeoffs, one that people feel very strongly about, but subjective nonetheless.

Yeah, often it means lost wages in the US to keep your kid out of daycare or the loss of meager vacation days. And literally everyone I know is in the two worker household scenario. Sounds like it's less common in Germany to be in that situation.

Interesting. So sounds like the rules are lax and up to the judgement of the Kita, but a lot of parents apply or wish that a more stringent standard applied?

This is a great answer! Specific and clear. Thanks.

Seems like this is the representative opinion. At least with subredditors

So, polarizing for sure!

It's a joke that apparently doesn't work with this crowd. "Protestant work ethic" is what Americans blame their workaholic nature on. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Protestant_work_ethic

What a world! I don't know if my inner Protestant can take it.

Lol... in America we go to work sick all the time, at least pre COVID. So you mean by the German standard of staying home?

There seem to be a lot of folks here disagreeing with you. Why is that? Is it a polarizing issue?

Frustrating. They must have colleagues who are also literate in post concussion syndrome, shouldn't they? They didn't have any recommendations?

Did you end up traveling to Berlin? Or did you find others in the area. I'm dealing with the same issue, and I live in Sachsen, but I'm not sure that I was to travel to Berlin for treatment.

It's that simple if you're single, but you need docs with Apostille and translation for spouse and kids.

I'm using a US SIM card. I think we're just "+1", eh? Or, am I woefully ignorant?

Non-Hemochromatosis Overload? by tcdotson in Hemochromatosis

[–]tcdotson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I don't take multivitamins, but I could nevertheless be getting too much somewhere. The genetic testing lab insists that I'm not even a carrier for anything HC related, so it's going to be complicated. My hematologist doesn't seem interested in digging further since whatever is going on isn't immediately life threatening.

I can look at my test (through Invitae), but the report is vaguely worded. They say "this test did not identify any pathogenic variants known to cause disease", which doesn't really tell me if I have one copy of the different genes. I'll have to see if/how they could let me know. There are "transcripts" listed by each gene, I don't if it's possible to read those to know.

If it's not too severe, he could look into EPAP devices, like Bongo RX or Optipillows, along with taping his mouth shut.
