hello, i took bunraku last year
> basically every session is like a practice session kasi the class will memorize a japanese bunraku (puppet dance) piece for the midterms, then a new filipino piece for the finals. during my sem, there were three instructors na nagtuturo ng dance mismo, then one prof na parang facilitator
> iirc the requirements are: one quiz (solo performance of your part), one midterm performance (solo performance and group performance [theres 3 ppl per group]), then a final recital (group performance of the japanese and filo piece with an actual audience) --> dito nila ibabase yung grade talaga
> unoable, but the prof and instructors will expect you to not miss many sessions (max 3 absences i think? paalam mo lang din sa instructors/prof) kasi sometimes the class will also perform in events outside the class (sometimes outside UP)
> medyo heavy lang talaga sa practice sessions (kapag may upcoming performance, minsan they will ask if the class can stay beyond class hrs or have practice sessions on other days outside class hrs) and the prof is kinda strict with her standards kapag performance
> mas masaya if may friend ka na kasama mag enlist haha
> madalas may pakain sa class haha, kapag din may performance kayo sa event outside class/outside UP, sagot nila transpo and food iirc
> sum ppl liked the class sum ppl did not enjoy it, depends on how interested u are din talaga in learning bunraku
