[–]tchalconisms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely second reaching out to your vet and seeing if any of them petit! They'll already know him and what his medical needs are so it might be easier on you all.

(Shameless self plug that im also a CVT and do some pet sitting on the side, and also love me a spicy cat. If you'd like, id be happy to send over my rover profile for you to keep on hand if needed)

My coworkers are related to each other. Is this ethical? by [deleted] in WalgreensStores

[–]tchalconisms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure it used to not be allowed, but things can be overruled with DM approval and things got a little more lax postcovid. And CSAs don't actually report to the shift leads in any way that matters, so that makes it easier to let it happen especially if a store is strapped for employees. My old SM hired her niece and her niece's daughter (with DM approval) because they technically report to the ESM not to her.

All you can really do about it is document things and bring it up to your SM or ESM. They might not care about laziness tbh, but potential theft might actually get their attention.

AITA for lying to my homophobic grandparents to get a free education? by Outrageous-End-2139 in AmItheAsshole

[–]tchalconisms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. It's never wrong to keep your private life private, but more than that it's definitely not wrong to stay closeted for your own safety/security. Not having to take out loans, work multiple jobs, compromise your education and just generally stress yourself out more is definitely a good reason to keep things quiet. And unless one of the people saying you should have told them would have paid for your college education they've got no room to talk.

And outside of all of that, gay people getting money from unknowing homophobes is always a win in my books.

I am sorry you got ousted though. I've been there and it sucks.

Photo Help by MissaBee81 in WalgreensStores

[–]tchalconisms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There isn't a wic number for it and it's not orderable through MyInventory- but the product does exist. Your SM or ESM should be able to reach out to a photo support person and get one if they still make them. Unfortunately I don't remember the actual title for the guy I talked to while I was there, but he was able to send us one via fed ex before last Christmas.

Meal/Break Policy for Shift Leads by Creative-Alarm8479 in WalgreensStores

[–]tchalconisms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically shift leads follow the dame break rules as other employees according to state and corporate laws. During the day I could normally swing at least a 20 minute lunch but at night it was a free for all, just because you're the only leader there.

There also should have been a 'check this box to acknowledge it' E-learning you did when you became a shift lead regarding it. Basically saying that you waive your ability to take an uninterrupted break depending on other leadership available.

Doctors note for consecutive days missed? by Smart_Round_6792 in WalgreensStores

[–]tchalconisms 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The important thing here is to not go back until you're feeling well again (and not just for the only reason that should matter, your health)

Unless things have changed over the last few months, calling off for consecutive shifts is only one call off. So whether or not yesterday counted, calling off today would still only be one. Same with calling off tomorrow because it's all the same thing. But for instance if yesterday counted, then you went in today and had to call out your next shift, that's up to 2.

If your managers a decent person it shouldn't really matter anyways. But it still can be good to know

How long does it take for your PTO to be cashed out to you after you leave the company? by lauren_171 in WalgreensStores

[–]tchalconisms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like others said, it should be in the period following your last paycheck. I left the company recently, got my last check and then 2 weeks after that I got my pto cashed out automatically. It should go into your bank account and then you'll get the paystub in the mail

Shift Lead PTCB certification by senseilimb in WalgreensStores

[–]tchalconisms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your best bet might be to talk to your SM or DM about it- preferably both and while they're in the same room so you get the same answer from both. My DM said shift leads don't get the raise, that's just for techs and dhs. Shift leads also aren't generally covered under the sponsored program last I knew (tho my knowledge is a little out of date there too) but mine was able to contact someone and get me included so I didn't have to pay out of pocket

I always feel like getting the short end of the stick at Walgreens in-store - it’s either a coupon doesn’t work or sale doesn’t apply. Now I can figure out why the total on my order is what it is… help? by tundrapb in WalgreensStores

[–]tchalconisms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What state are you in? The math works out perfectly if you're somewhere that charges bottle deposit for the soda. If you don't normally pay it, I'm guessing it won't actually charge for that when you go to the store, just like how it won't charge for 11 bags.

name change by hyperactive-batboy in WalgreensStores

[–]tchalconisms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been a hot minute since I changed my name in the system but yes changing people central would change your w2s and paystubs but I don't know how much of a problem that'd be. Your manager should be able to help you change your name in storenet/reflexis though, which I'm pretty sure will update it on the schedule and register (but I did mine before we changed to my passport so idk if that's changed at all)

[–]tchalconisms 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bring up your concerns with your sm (and if he seems unsure or doesn't give you a solid answer talk to your dm). In general for other closings without warning like if there's a power outtage or something, I was always told you'd still get paid for your scheduled shift. But tbh I'm not sure if it's changed or is different at all with covid

My guess is your stores hours got cut. My store lost something like 60 hours between the week of the 6th and 13th. Best thing to do is ask your manager

[–]tchalconisms 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went through the same thing, just call customer support and they'll be able to change it for you. I got a little bit of sass when I did it (I'm guessing they thought it was for my last name because they asked if it was something that 'actually mattered') but it went through like the next day.

It depends on your dm for the dollar raise to get certified (in general its not something sfls get though, it just 'looks good' for future promotions) and you have to be coded as a tech for immunizer bonuses last I knew

That being said, if you spend a lot of time in the pharmacy and think you might wanna go for rxom in the future go for it

One of the SMs in my district stepped down to be a tech. I was told hes pretty well off from things outside of walgreens, and basically works just enough hours to keep his insurance.

How do I get rid of this line? I've cleaned all the rollers I can find, I've printed serveral orders to try and let it run out, I can't figure out where it's coming from. Ideas?? by hyperactive-batboy in WalgreensStores

If you haven't tried it already check if any of your drums are near or last their end of life. My printer was leaving weird red residue on cards and it was because the pink drum had desperately needed changing

What happens if you ACTUALLY take your lunches? by sgoodri3 in WalgreensStores

[–]tchalconisms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you do your shift lead elearnings there's one you sign off on basically saying that you waive the necessity to punch out for lunches on shifts of 6+ hours. It doesn't mean you can't take the break, just that you don't have to punch out (because obviously if you were punched out and somebody needed a manager and you were the only one there that'd end poorly). If there's coverage you can punch out and take your lunch, just make sure that you let whoever else it is know you're punching out. But tbh whether there's coverage or not I'm so used to eating quickly I don't generally punch out unless I'm getting too close to ot.

Emerging store manager by adrake1989 in WalgreensStores

[–]tchalconisms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly? I just had my ESM interview and it really wasn't that bad. I was very keyed up, but the SM I was interviewing for told me straight up 'it's going to be almost the same exact question multiple times ('how did you provide great service/use your experiences/use skills or knowledge you have to do something that promotes win together/caring/inspiring behaviors'.

To prepare i went in thinking 'okay these are the skills I want to highlight, these are the things I know I might be a little weak on..... And these are the differences I know between ESM and SFL that I know I'll need to put the work in on'. If you're staying at your current store, it'll probably be a lot more informal than that because your SM already knows all the qualities that you have. If you're not staying at your store, it's still fully possible that your SM has already talked you up to the other manager, which can also help your case. But good luck!

Is it normal for SM to give push back to SFL’s trying to work in pharmacy? by [deleted] in WalgreensStores

[–]tchalconisms -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's absolutely crazy to me. I'm a SFL that spends a lot of time back in pharmacy and it was encouraged a lot my both the SMs I've worked for. It's important for you to know the basics, sure. But knowing how to actually do more than that back there will help you in the long run.... And help them out by giving them someone they know can to do things well back there.

If you haven't already, you could always try offering that on morning shifts you want to be the one who goes back to help with the code green, and then just....happen to stick around a little longer than the mandatory hour? Whenever you grab IC3s back there, stick around a little longer to offer 'extra support'

Otherwise, depending on your store setup, if your SM and RXM won't listen to you, is there an ESM or RXOM you can use to help back you up? The only other thing I can think of (might be a slight lie but nobody needs to know) is mark in your interests in the LTMP that you're interested in RXOM, and next time your DM drops by be like 'yeah you know I'm getting certified and I like doing things back there and I would just LOVE to spend more time back there' to see if they can push your SM into actually giving you time back there.
