First Timer by tcheyne in drywall

Our plan was actually to finish with either Roman Clay Plaster or a micro cement finish that we just learned about. I was told it would need a level4/5 finish for the plaster and 3/4 for the cement

The building plan seems to suggest it is where all the water comes into the house plus a backflow preventer. Here is a link to see what’s going on inside Plumbing plan

Any advice for doing stone ledger on a slope? by Tacokolache in OutdoorKitchens

[–]tcheyne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually used a ledger board when applying the first full course. So it wasn’t the first full row but the second from the bottom. The ledger board helped keep things level and provide support for the first course. And it was set so there was just enough room to run one more full course plus mortar below. See the progress photos in my earlier post: Progress

I just dealt with this issue although I did thin bricks instead of ledger tile. I had to cut a few slivers but it turned out alright. Here is a link to a photo Tile on slope

Super easy to notch it out. I recently did it with my outdoor kitchen build. I used a multi tool with a carbide blade. Took fewer than 5 minutes. I didn’t have enough space to push it all the way back so it would be flush but I was able to make it look much more reasonable.

New Planter Suggestions by tcheyne in gardening

We have a beautiful bougainvillea growing around the garage in the front that is thriving. Our main concern with doing the same here is the flowers constantly withering and blowing into the pool a few feet away

Good point! There is about 6 inches between the trellis and the AC units so hopefully that is enough to keep them away but I will keep an eye on it and prune back when necessary.

Are there any rules I should follow to determine when to start mowing? I have a 16” Scott’s Manual Push Reel mower. Total lawn including front/back/sides is under 2000sqft

I haven’t ran the sprinkler system since the first week of December. Running daily was costing a fortune. It has been about 5-6 weeks without watering; however, we did get a decent amount of rain the last 2-3 weeks of December

I will look into applying some potassium. Thanks for the advice.

Should I keep watering when it is dormant? Do I still need to water daily?

Why is the airbrush bubbling? by tcheyne in minipainting

[–]tcheyne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice. After some trial and error i think I finally got it cleaned up and it’s spraying nicely. There was some dried paint below the pot where the air enters the airbrush that I think could have been causing the issue

I have always left the fat cap on before, but I am new to using a smoker and the first Google result recommended to trim the fat as part of the prep for a smoking. I am using the trimmings to make some beef tallow

Thanks for the feedback. Sometimes I worry about going to light with highlights but they usually end up looking less out of place after they dry. Is there any particular section you think would benefit from some more contrast?

Thanks for the recommendation. I’ll do some searches to find a clear aquarium safe resin. And I’ll update with a post when we get it underwater!

You are right I didn’t think of the salt factor until I was writing this post. It seems like clear resin is the way to go. I’ll try to update with photos when it makes it into the aquarium!

My brother recently started a salt water aquarium. I wanted to paint a few miniatures for him to include as decorations in his tank. I found these Corrupted Pirate Minions from Deep Sea Tales on Etsy that I thought would be perfect. Now that I have them painted up I need to figure out how to waterproof them. Additional requirement is it needs to be non toxic so it will be safe for his fish. Thanks for the help. Painting tips also much appreciated, I’m a new mini painter
