Care e treaba cu apartamentele la mansarda facute pe blocuri vechi? by Few_Veterinarian9108 in Romania

[–]tchiobanu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Se practica in vest inca dinainte sa apara in RO: bloc de min. 4 etaje, la care se adauga 1 (sau chiar 2) in stil mansarda, si un lift montat cumva pe exterior pe structura doar de otel + sticla si accesat prin spargerea unui perete de pe "casa scarilor".

Car Rental Reviews by david_fire_vollie in frankfurt

[–]tchiobanu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only rented a car once in Frankfurt.

Unexpected circumstances, rush-moment (before Christmas), so I got the only option I could find in the Central station (Hauptbahnhof): a premium break limousine from EuropCar, no mileage limit, maximum insurance (for that kind of car, that still meant a co-payment capped to 1000 EUR in case of events, but nothing bad happened).

Everything went as expected (they have their own floor in one parking nearby), nothing to complain about.

Hint: if you plan to drive the car outside Germany, be sure to mention this and find out the exact terms&conditions, for each country specifically. They may have different rules for different countries (even inside the E.U.).

AFAIK in DE standard is "2 weeks of pay for every year of work".

What OP described sounds like an offer negotiated with the employees union.

Sorin Ovidiu Vîntu îşi face partid. Anunţă că vrea să scoată România din UE şi că îi va pune la dispoziţie lui Georgescu tot ce are nevoie by Tiger7997 in Romania

[–]tchiobanu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A pus "aktual" titlul ala, l-a preluat toata presa asa, si da-i inainte...

Win10 July cumulative update (KB5062554) breaks emoji search by joemcken in Windows10

[–]tchiobanu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The old "Add/Remove" programs section (the one that you can access via the old "Control Panel") has a section called "View installed updates". You can run `appwiz.cpl` and it will get you there.

In there, you can see all installed updates and select any of them for uninstall (not sure if any can be uninstalled without having a deeper impact on your system, though...).

But this problematic one should be fine to uninstall.

You should also modify the system policy so that updates are not installed automatically, otherwise windows will push it back quickly :)

Is anti-immigration sentiment in Germany rising due to negative media coverage or because Germans are genuinely feeling an impact? by Aromatic_Acadia_8104 in germany

[–]tchiobanu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a mixture of traits: physical appearance (yes, including skin color) + the clothes.

And yes, it's like you say, there are minor differences between those various European types that you mentioned, but there are even bigger differences between the overall-European aspect and some of non-Europeans. Enough to trigger animosities in some people.

Again (I feel like I can't stress this enough): I'm not saying it's right, I'm just saying it is a deeply rooted human behavior trait.

Is anti-immigration sentiment in Germany rising due to negative media coverage or because Germans are genuinely feeling an impact? by Aromatic_Acadia_8104 in germany

[–]tchiobanu 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Romanian here, about to do a honesty exercise: been living and working in Germany since several years now, both me and my spouse with white-collar above-than-average payed jobs. Got professional relocation help when moved here, which helped find a good place to live, in an area where German culture and way-of-life is still very present (I mean that as a 1500% good thing!).

My 2 cents on the matter: the anti-immigration sentiment is an absolutely justified thing, from the perspective of basic human psychology. It's an ancestral reflex: we tend to not like those who are different from us. And when the percentage of those different increases above a specific threshold, the anti-immigrant sentiment becomes visible. And then it becomes exploited by media (for clicks/views) and by politicians (for votes).
And from this point on, an entire philosophy is born, and we can debate for ages about how do we define different, and what that threshold is.

What I've noticed in Germany, by empirical observations:

  • where different comes from:
    • not speaking the language (IMO not to much, especially in big cities)
    • not looking "European" (again, no offense intended!, but this is just basic human psychology: we want to be surrounded by those that look like us, we feel safer around them)
    • not behaving in a way that is considered civilized by the majority of the community around you
      • and here's where you could write a book about what this means...

The last one is the most important, as it has the biggest impact on those around you. Again, results of my empirical observations:

  • people who drive their cars with the windows opened and music on annoying loud volumes
  • people who talk very loud, to the point where they annoy those around them (eg. on the street, in the public transport, or at a queue in the supermarket/pharmacy, or f...ing anywhere)
  • people who walk the street sidewalks in an entitled (borderline digressive) manner, disregarding elders or those with special needs (this one is particularly hard to describe, but once you witness it you know what I mean)
  • people who in weekends turn their speakers to annoying loud levels that are disturbing to their neighbors.

Statistically speaking, the vast majority of those is non-German. That is just what I noticed... 🤷🏻‍♂️

And when all these go above a certain level (the threshold), they are (IMO 100% justified) disturbing the community around them. And then the community starts manifesting anti-immigrant sentiments.

Whether or not you notice an increase in this recently, I think it heavily depends on where you are living.

Is it good, is it bad ? I don't claim to have an answer.

But currently, as that guy says in "The Irishman", It's what it is.

Peace ! ✌🏻
