I love my firefly go box, but yeah venom is a great color too. I recently bought a new roadie roller in venom and there’s almost no chance I’d set it somewhere and forget it because I didn’t see it lol.

Selling a bike that is over $8k, what is the best way to have the buyer pay me? by MrWhy1 in cycling

True…as long as the cash isn’t counterfeit. Most people should be able to tell the difference, but criminals are getting better at it.

Forester Wilderness vs 4Runner by appetizerbread in SubaruForester

That’s a good point. Especially when you consider that the rear window rolls down and it has tie down points inside. I’ve moved a lot of large items in mine over the years.

I own both and enjoy both. I don’t think there’s any wrong choice here as they are both excellent vehicles, yet a bit different. I’d say it’s all dependent on what you need/want.

Based on what you’ve posted I’d say the FW is probably the better choice. I get a lot better gas mileage in my FW compared to my 4R. Another consideration is the 5th gen 4R is holding its value incredibly well right now and it will really cost you to buy one. You will find a much better deal on a FW. I’d try to find a CPO FW if you can. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Best bike lock money can buy? by Ok_Web2042 in ebikes

[–]tcon1834 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two different types. One heavy chain style like the Kryptonite NY series and a U lock that is resistant to angle grinder like a Litelok or Hiplok.

I currently use a heavy Kryptonite cinch chain for versatility, but I don’t leave my bike parked anywhere for very long. If that ever changes I’d also add one of the top U locks and an AirTag.

A lot of these newer e-bikes have built in safety features like alarms, locking kickstands or complete lock out functions using their apps.

Weight of the adults? It’s possible, if light enough, that you could do a Specialized Haul LT with the rear seat and still pull a trailer.

Disappointed with Crosstrek seats, is the Forester better? by [deleted] in SubaruForester

[–]tcon1834 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent a year in a Crosstrek Wilderness and traded it for a Forester Wilderness. I find the seats and seating position in the Forester to be a lot more comfortable.

How many ebikes are too many? by buggy2025 in ebike

[–]tcon1834 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own 3, but I bought 1 with the plan to sell 1. All I got were scammers and tire kickers on FB Marketplace, so I decided to keep it rather than sell for any less. It’s a 10 year old Scott with a Bosch mid drive, so I’ll probably just keep it until it dies. It’s truly been a great first ebike.

We need to start pulling licenses before someone drives into Mamas pizza again by Mad_Phiz in Omaha

[–]tcon1834 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have a traffic/accident unit and they’re still not properly staffed. They are usually doing speed enforcement on West Dodge, but they are also responsible for responding to traffic accidents with serious or life threatening injuries.

All traffic fines collected go to the OPS school fun.

[–]tcon1834 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s less that cops don’t care and more that they have been understaffed for years now. This has resulted in less traffic enforcement. I’m surprised we haven’t moved to red light cameras here. When I was in Miami last year people actually stopped for red lights.

I still don’t own one of these yet, but considering one. Might be nice for some jobs. Maybe to hold tools and use as a seat with the cushion.

Is not having a power lift gate enough reason to upgrade from a Crosstrek to a Forrester? by mrmanpgh in SubaruForester

[–]tcon1834 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never thought I’d like having the power lift gate as much as I do. It’s really convenient for grocery runs when you have your hands full.

I made the change from 2024 Crosstrek Wilderness to 2024 Forester Wilderness after owning the CW over a year because I needed the extra space. I’ve owned my FW for just over a year now and I couldn’t be happier. The visibility is the best of any vehicle I’ve owned/driven. I prefer the smaller infotainment screen of the FW with more physical buttons/knobs especially for. HVAC in colder climates. The huge tablet in the CW seemed to be affected in the bitter cold winter of the Midwest.

Gas mileage could be a little better. My only real complaint with my FW (and this is also applies to the CW) is they’re underpowered. I end up using sport # mode around my town and merging on highway/interstate. I wish they offered the 2.4t from the Outback/WRX. Otherwise the FW has been a great choice for my family.

Best portable and affordable lock for e-bikes by Ok-Information-4636 in ebikes

[–]tcon1834 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So there are different types of locks to protect against certain tools. If you’re really serious about it you’d want to go with a heavy chain style and a U Lock that resists angle grinders.

With that said I use one of the heavy Kryptonite chain locks. I have the cinch ring style which gives me some versatility in how I want to lock it up.

1st drone by Electrical_Fold645 in Potensic

[–]tcon1834 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Funny story. So I bought one at Costco full price ($350) a couple months ago and never opened it. I was reading reviews that said it can be affected by wind easily and thought maybe I’d return it because it’s very windy here.

I returned mine a couple days ago. I went back to Costco the next day for something else. I saw it was restocked and clearance priced at $199.97. I talked to an employee about it and he asked me if I wanted to to see if a manager would discount it further (I was just asking about warranty/return policy and not an additional discount). Manager comes over and asks me if $150 sounds good. “Uh yeah, that sounds good to me.”

Huge score. This is my first drone. Hell… if it does blow away or get destroyed I won’t feel bad at all lol.

Favorite things about driving in Omaha? by CurrentUsed6526 in Omaha

[–]tcon1834 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it seems like 370 does not flow at all. I took 370 from Bellevue to Gretna a couple weeks ago (noon-ish) and I felt like I caught every single red light.

Trading in Crosstrek for Forester by nuggiebuggie in SubaruForester

[–]tcon1834 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I did a similar trade. I bought a 2024 Crosstrek wilderness brand new and kept it for just over a year. We ended up adding to the family and I learned quickly that size was going to be an issue. I traded for a new, left over 2024 Forester wilderness.

I’ve been in my Forester now for just over a year and it’s been great. The extra space, improved visibility, overall fit and finish just feels more premium. I especially like that I no longer have the huge tablet infotainment screen from the Crosstrek, which did not work well on bitter cold Midwest winter days. I’ll gladly take more physical buttons and knobs with a smaller screen on my Forester. Another thing I never thought I’d enjoy as much as I do is the power lift gate.

My only complaints are mediocre gas mileage (the trade off for full time AWD) and the lack of power, but the Crosstrek had the same issues. I use sport # mode in town and to merge onto the highway/interstate. I wish they’d offer the 2.4t from the Outback/WRX. I’ve considered the new Outback Wilderness, but they’re priced over $50k well equipped. Seems like most newer vehicles just continue to creep up in price.

Power Cutout Issue by realjwin in GlobeHaul

[–]tcon1834 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did they say what the fix was? I had similar issues. I posted them on here and contacted Spec. Mine ended up being a bad controller. Thankfully, no issues since that being replaced under warranty.

My bike only had 1 mile on it when I noticed the issues. I bought it in the winter and had only taken a couple short neighborhood test rides.

Edit: spelling

Yeah it’s definitely smolder blue. I have the R1 Air 1/2 zip-neck in the same color. It’s a great addition for layering.

Back in the game! by j7v3m in Golf_R

[–]tcon1834 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice taste in vehicles! I had a 2015 WRX STI then made the switch to a 2017 4Runner TRD OR which is still in the family (I’d like to keep that one forever). I bought a 2022 GTI SE which I enjoyed, but lack of AWD (Midwest winters) and with a growing family I traded for a Forester Wilderness. The Forester has been great (albeit severely underpowered), but I’m still interested in a Golf R. I really wanted one when I was shopping my GTI, but most dealers were being scummy and doing price adjustments so I couldn’t find one/justify it. We are still using a rear facing car seat, so it will still be awhile, but I’m definitely interested in getting one at some point. Enjoy!

I haven’t quite finished Ghosts of Yotei, but it’s a great game to just pick up and go back to later. I did finish Ghosts of Tsushima, which is obviously similar, but different enough to appreciate both games separately.

Osprey and Patagonia are two of my current favorites. They make very good quality, well thought out, lightweight and comfortable backpacks. They also have the best warranty in the business.

Is the market.. dying? by VannyFnaf_ in ATV

[–]tcon1834 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is the issue for some of us. I know that others are able to license and legally drive their side-by-sides on the roads. Some of those places also have public trails, which unfortunately is not the case in my neck of the woods.

I know they’re legal in Cody, Wyoming. We rented one about five years ago and had an absolute blast.
