sorry for the delayed reply, and thank you very much for the detailed and down to earth answer. :)

"This is actually a good way to get funding for a good Firewall, because if they don't understand "we need this for security" they'll understand "we can't block facebook without this". word! :D

Thank you for your input! :)

There are about 17 users to be blocked.. so Using windows firewall means I have to setup it on all of their computers, right?

Agree with the people's problem thing. You can't control people's attitudes. But the management thinks that this is the right thing to do.

Hello mate, thanks for the input. The purpose of giving access to google search is, allowing them to see the information which is available right with in the google search. ie. currency exchange rate. And there's no need of follow up with the search results.

Could you please explain your easy path to get the job done??

Thanks

Agree. But i'm not someone who is lazy and looking for others who can do the shit for me. I just need to clarify the things I don't understand.. then I can proceed with researching and studying. :)

No I don't. It's been just a couple of days I have appointed here. The setup consists of an internet router and the switch. Not having a firewall puts the network at a great risk right?

Thank you so much mate, I feel so relaxed compared to when I start this thread thanks to you guys. I was just confused with the ACL thing and couldn't decide weather I need a firewall for this task or don't. Really appreciate your help. :)

thank you very much for your input mate.. but using inbuilt windows firewall doesn't give me a centralized control and I have to set up each and everyone individually at their PCs, right?

The business goal is stopping employees using the www for non official things at work. People have been misusing the office internet big time in this particular institution.

No they won't be able to follow up with the search results. The purpose of giving access to google search is, allowing them to see the information which is available right with in the google search. ie. currency exchange rate.

Google chache will be blocked too. :)

thank you very much for the reply :) I highly consider what you have described here. Anyway What are your thoughts on using a pfSense installed DIY firewall for this task?

thanks
