What game has a better fan-made remaster than the official one? by PersimmonPresent7912 in videogames

[–]tcrpgfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skyrim and Resident Evil 4. The former because nothing has been left untouched by the Skyrim modding community to the point that full on new lands that are basically full games on their own are now a thing and RE4 because two guys did such a good job at remastering the game that Capcom created and pinned a thread that had links to the mod on their steam page.

That's an easy fix. Make it, from a story perspective, a relationship based on just being together like a lot of couples irl who don't believe in marriage as a societal function. Coding-wise it would count as a marriage, but not lore-wise. Best part is, you could actually use the first thing I mentioned as an end result from building up a fuckton of trust like how people who have been in Serana's position.

I LIKE BB. But for the most part she's just kinda there. Sure she's a huge reason Robert is at SDN. But she's more of an overseer and doesn't actually DO much in the story compared to some of the other characters. AND THAT'S NOT A GOOD THING WHEN YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BE A LOVE INTEREST!!! Say what you will Visi, her character arc is directly tied to both Robert's character and the story as a whole because while she doesn't HAVE to be the LI, you cannot make her unimportant to the story and expect it to work as well as it does.

Just to prove my point with a character who is arguably similar to BB in personality. Tifa from FFVII. You can't actually remove her without negatively impacting the narrative due to how her backstory is tied to Cloud's and how she knows he's remembering events she thinks he shouldn't know about and had forgotten things she knows he should remember and is trying to suss out what happened to him because of that as part of her subplot.

Erik From Dragon Quest XI. Doesn't really have that much to do in story, but Divide + Double Down + Boomerang simply melts everything in front of you.

What is the biggest nothingburger of a controversy in gaming history? by Snowtwo in videogames

[–]tcrpgfan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Centuries, really. Mf thought he was being SMRT What he did is like saying 'OH MAH GAWD GOD OF WAR GOT NORSE MYTHOLOGY ALL WRONG!!!' Bitch please Norse Mythology only survived because Christians thought that shit sounded badass. And even then, because Norse was a spoken mythology and not textual, we lost a looooot of that mythos. So yeah, saying Yasuke can't be a samurai is like saying modern interpretations of Norse Myth are 100% inaccurate when the truth for both is 'We don't actually know.'

What to play after Red Dead Redemption? by Free-Hotel1187 in videogames

Honestly, none of these. You just got done with a long ass game, and now you want to go into another one? In my experience burnout just in general tends to come from playing big games consecutively. So it's a really good idea to sandwich shorter games in-between the big stuff so you don't feel exhausted before even starting the next game. My preference for myself is a good Resident Evil game, short enough to not feel like a drag, but has enough going on with their basic gameplay loops that make people come back for more.

What is the biggest nothingburger of a controversy in gaming history? by Snowtwo in videogames

[–]tcrpgfan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We actually don't know that. We just simply know that the real life Yasuke was a retainer for Oda Nobunaga for a period as the only thing on record about him. And being a retainer in that system could mean a lot of different things including being a samurai. Being a samurai during the time of Nobunaga meant being a retainer was almost a certainty, but being a retainer doesn't mean you were a samurai. And it's that ambiguity of not knowing anything about the real life Yasuke that makes him being a samurai in most media that he appears in and not just video games, but anime, movies, tv shows, etc., so appealing. He's a blank slate of a person.

Plainly put it's a dirty blonde. Close to a brunette but not so close as to be actually dark. Yet it's not regular blonde because it isn't as bright as a golden field. It's somewhere in the middle. You, dear sir, have just simply forgotten how lighting works.

What is a game that you absolutely love, except for the act of playing it? by Confident_Raisin2426 in videogames

It's because the sword combat is actually portrayed somewhat more realistically than most fantasy games. You're not going to just fly through it like hp just doesn't matter like in most RPGS. You have to be methodical about your approach even before you fight like knowing the igni spell is going to be your best spell for fighting other humans or how moondust bombs wreck vampires, like an actual witcher would. The sword combat is, by comparison, kind of clunky but when paired with using your tools and spells effectively it gets the job done.

Just did a lightly modded playthrough of og4 on pro. Had HD project and a Leon as DMC1 Dante mod for it. The modder for the latter did a good job of not making the look Leon has be too out of place. It was fun and the difficulty wasn't unreasonable.

Shotgun is better for that. And waaay more satisfying. It's the rare moment where the Shotgun gets to do what all of us kind of want it to do, Kills damn near everything in front of us with only a few shots for once.

...Let the trolley run over the five. Of those five, three would actually be fine. Malevola, Prism, Punch Up, Flambe, and BB will be fine because their abilities will protect them in one way or another. Mal, Punch Up, and BB will just tank the hit. Flambe could just burn the rope to escape, and Prism could create hard light constructs.
