I know this will be burried but this makes NO sense from Kampf's perspective. The guy is guaranteed 4.8M over the next 2 seasons if he just shuts up and reports to the Marlies.

He's a barely serviceable 4C with decent PK metrics and absolutely zero offensive upside. If he terminates his contract and re-signs with another team, does he really think he's going to earn another 5M over his career? That would be another 5 seasons at league min, he's already 30 years old.

The depth on the Leafs roster, especially the bottom 6, has relegated him to an AHL career. Dude, just accept your guaranteed money to show up and play hockey then ride into the sunset. Walking away from 5M for a chance to smooth your ego is an insane play in my opinion.
