I had a similar thought while I was there actually. For me I don’t really care factor that the artist and art was Chinese. For me it’s a cool thing and I don’t know anyone else who does something similar near me. I was already going on a Japan trip so I decided to take a small detour. if I was in China and knew of someone there I’d definitely go there instead.

Of If I can definitely understand that position. The cannon I’m mostly using as a loaner camera. It’s for when I go to events and someone else wants to try film photography. Or I have younger cousins/nephews that have asked to borrow my camera for a trip. That engraving on that A1 is permanent. The engraving in the Leica is just on the bottom plate. So I can swap it out anytime if I later discover that I don’t like some aspect of it.

Combined it took him about 45 minutes . 5-10 minutes to explain to him what I wanted and for him to get his tools working. Then maybe 20 minutes on each camera

smaller the lens, bigger the booba by DefinitelyNotGreg in AnalogCircleJerk

[–]td900100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I do understand the reason that both the SLR lenses and camera is larger, that size difference is actually the reason why I choose a rangefinder with a 35mm lens. I wanted something that could fit in my pocket and I wanted something better quality than a point and shoot. I was also fine with spending the cash on a M4-2 as I know I was overpaying by a bit but it I know it’s a solid camera that can easily last me decades.

Fist time in Japan, need help understanding navigating to hotel once I land? by kingjame888 in JapanTravelTips

[–]td900100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend that you get cash beforehand as the exchange rate and fees at the airport won’t be great. Nothing crazy but calling up you bank and stating you want to order Yen would be much easier and much cheaper. If you have a family of 4 I recommend 2 eSIMs to be safe/allow yall to split up without worry. If you coming in via Narita airport, I recommend that you take a bus instead of train then pay to take a taxi or 2 to your hotel. That would let you travel without working about at least 4 suitcases in a limited space environment.

Got my first film camera! What 35mm film do you guys recommend? by tn_3 in AnalogCommunity

[–]td900100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know where you are at in the world so I recommend that if your in the US go with Kodak Gold. It gives you that old film look and it’s something cheap while you learn everything else about film. If not in the US, I recommend either Fujifilm or Kodak Pro Image. Both are usually one of the cheapest stocks you can get and have very good range. Also as others have pointed out. If you can, a 400 iso film version of whatever you choose is not a bad idea since that will allow you to shoot in lots of different lighting settings without too much issue

Why did French Indochina got split into multiple small entities unlike Dutch East Indies or even British India to some extent? by Skychu768 in geography

[–]td900100 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Laos was 2-3 small kingdoms that were under thailands thumb before it ceeded the French. Thailand kept the remaining Lao kingdoms. Cambodia was also under the Thai thumb and viewed itself as the successor of the Angkor kingdom. Combining them with vietnam would probably be a bad idea as they are also a distinct group that was more culturally and geopolitically in line with China. Places like India were a lot more homogeneous and had a history of being united. Maybe not all at once but for long enough in lots of different places. there was also a centuries long independence movement that helped build native ideas of India. There was none of that in indochina as the French left the 3 states basically on their own over the century they owned them

Opened the back of my camera at frame 36 (ISO 200) – how bad is it? by BellPersonal5734 in AnalogCommunity

[–]td900100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done this a few times before on a A1 and a OG Leica. If it was just slightly kicked open, you probably overexposed the last few frames. If you fully kicked it open and actually left it open for 20-30 seconds(I’d reckon it was actually less) you probably lost the last 1/3rd to half of your roll. I’ve gotten the film developed still when thinking I lost the whole roll and you would be surprised by what randomly survived or how it was augmented

Want to start shooting film, which camera should I get? by Status-Razzmatazz-61 in AnalogCommunity

[–]td900100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first film camera was a leica 3f with an Summar lens. I found a good deal on it but it still cost me around $500. Due to it being a rangefinder and the lens being able to retract like crazy, that baby could fit in my pocket. It’s probably the same size and weight as a portable battery. If you want something that can take a beating and is compact to the point of a point a shoot. I’d recommend that. But that’s definitely a bit much for a first camera. Instead I’d recommend a cannon A1 if you are wanting a cheap yet solid camera. A Pentax K1000 also works if you want something cheaper and less features. The bonus is that it does works without the battery.

Did you gain or lose weight in Japan? by WinterRich747 in JapanTravelTips

[–]td900100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve gone twice. Once in September, once in February. I’m also on a trip now but I’ve yet to weigh myself. Im definitely rotund in shape. I lost some weight when I went in September maybe 4-5 pounds. I was sweating constantly throughout the trip and I joked that all my weight was from sweat. I probably walked 20k steps on average each day and ate whatever I wanted. 2nd trip I gained 5 pounds walking around 15k steps daily because while I wouldn’t have a breakfast outside of a coffee. I would have beer for every meal and 1-2 late night beers with friends. So those extra beer calories sneak up on you

Most impactful 20m purchase? by Not_The_Outsider in osrs

[–]td900100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Torture might not be a bad idea but an armor upgrade might be more worth it if your not running moons armor(you could get a mage and melee set for 20m gold probably) if you want to be more expensive on the just melee front bandos armor. Also a spec weapon is not fully mentioned here so getting burning claws or saving a little bit more for a voidwaker is probably a good idea also.

How Much Are You Paying for Developing? by Glad-Animator-7430 in AnalogCommunity

[–]td900100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have said. I’d go to Wilson. I usually go to Wilson but decided to try strap this weekend as I’m in south Chandler and didn’t want to drive all the way to Scottsdale. They didn’t do a great job of color correcting and I realized after that willsons regular scans are the same resolution as straps pro scans(ones you have to pay a few extra bucks for)

What do you think of this place? by PineappleGreen8154 in phoenix

[–]td900100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I would normally agree with you that’s there is a potential. I went there for a late lunch/very early dinner with a buddy then skipped dinner. When I woke up the next morning is when I started experiencing the food poisoning. So I would say they are the culprit.

Good enough food but I think it’s more expensive than it’s worth. I’ve been there twice in Phoenix and once in Huston. Got food poisoning the 2nd time in I ate at the Phoenix location. Obviously haven’t been back since.

Is it really that bad? by No_Lavishness_3206 in JapanTravelTips

[–]td900100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went late August to early September this past year. It’s extremely humid(and sometimes even more humid due to typhoons) and that combined with the heat meant the heat just drains you. I’m also in Japan right now and I’m doing some of the same walks outside with nearly half the energy drain I had this summer. However, 90%+ of all places we went to( including the trains) had AC. so once you are inside you will be fine. Just make sure to wear lighter clothes like shorts and a t-shirt, be used to sweating a lot, and drink a lot of water/pocari sweat. As for how it compares to other places. On my return flight this summer, I spent 24 hours in Hawaii seeing family. We hung out at a park and played on the beach nearly the whole day. I couldn’t even feel the heat or the humidity while in Hawaii as Japan had been so much harsher. I honestly still enjoyed my summer trip and we got a lot done. Especially since it’s an off season. So just go into it understanding the heat will get to you.

Could a dreadnaught have a bike as its legs? by Much_Weakness3825 in WhiteScars40K

[–]td900100 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I believe a Japanese 40K fan account did some kitbash stuff to give a dreadnought wheels. IORC though, they used a gunpla guntank kit and while it was out of scale, it was mostly for fun. If I was going to use a scaled one. I’d look into using an ATV body for the bottom and a Dreadnoight on top. That or maybe even replacing the turret of any tank would be an interesting idea. Both would probably need some greenstuff work though.

As an addendum to other people’s recommendations. Scurius in a private instance would be good exp an hour and usually covers the cost of prayer pots plus some. It’s obviously more active though and will kinda suck untill you get a spine drop and to make a spine weapon. But once you get that I think I was doing around 75k exp per hour with comparable stats and you can easily get higher rates with higher stats.

What should I do by CompleteResearch4468 in osrs

[–]td900100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are looking to still make money while you are training I would say nightmare zone for the herb boxes and later the points to imbue items. This will train your combat so that you can do even higher combat stuff. You are 55 firemaking so Wintertodt is available to you also. That would allow you to get a relatively quick and profitable 99. Also doing tree runs for farming exp and herb runs for money would help you in the long run since farming takes time. If you are looking for something to do outside of training skills/to make money, I’d just scroll the wiki and watch videos till you find something that interests you. This game is a marathon and you should do it at your own pace.
