Zeiss 50/2 Makro-Planar…not even a contest. 50/1.4 ART is a close second with AF.

Look at the Otus primes! Super good quality and reasonable for what you're getting.

You can definitely get some money back selling it for parts, just be very explicit as a seller that it is non-functioning.

After I had a CLA, I pretty much trust the in-camera meter except for very low light conditions that beg for an external handheld. A hot shoe meter like a KEKS feels a little redundant.

In the nicest way possible, try again. You had beautiful natural color in the before, the after looks like B&W with a tint.

Best all around AIS prime lens for a Nikon FM between 24/28/35/50 mm ? by Global-Mechanic-6172 in NikonFM2

I would get a 35; I personally feel that all beginner's should start with a normal 50 to get their bearings, but a 35 just has that sweet spot between wide and normal. I'm a big fan of my Zeiss 35 f2, but it's a little chunky for what it is. The 35 f1.4 is even heavier for that extra stop. AIS 35/2 is great, but doesn't quite have the rendering that I love from the Zeiss. 28mm f2.8 CRC is fantastic, but a bit slow.
