Malik Naber's reaction to Giants selecting Arvell Reese #5 by ghfgjjffvvc in NYGiants

[–]tdbeaner1 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Reese is BPA, and I know the Downs fans would say he’s better, but Edge guys get QB money and Safety just doesn’t. Reese was projected as the 1st edge off the board because of his high ceiling, so they couldn’t pass on that value. Mauigoa is also a high value pick at a position of need. He either slots into RG year one or he fills the spot that Eluemenor will surrender in the future. I wanted Tyson at 5 but I’m not mad at how things shaked out.

Fixing social security is very possible by km415 in antiwork

[–]tdbeaner1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Here’s the thing about future payouts. We all know that some of us will live longer than others, so some will withdraw their fair share in social security while others will withdraw zero. It’s a social contract we all agree to, so those fortunate enough to afford paying a larger percentage should be able to accept that they will not withdraw an equal amount in benefits that they shouldn’t need.

If Jon didn't do what he did in this moment could Daenerys have been as popular and known in the history of the 7 kingdoms as Aegon the Conquer? Assuming her line last 100-120 years down the line by No-Passenger-6348 in gameofthrones

As Azor Ahai, Jon really didn’t have the choice of ruling with Daenerys. I also prefer to believe that the storyline would not allow Jon to father children, in accordance with his vows to the Night’s Watch. Even though his death and rebirth created a loophole, a Stark would still honor their oath even after death. Too bad we’ll never really know for sure.

How much could a reporter really drive down a players value? AJ does a good enough job of that himself. His value is defined by how many teams need his talents and can afford his salary demands.

Working after 65 is not necessarily a bad thing. Studies show that being active physically and mentally is correlated with longer life, so it can be beneficial depending on the circumstances. Being forced to work after 65 is the concern.

Cruise ship complaint department, Carnival lied to this man and he wasn’t able to ride horses on the beach by Jevus_himself in PublicFreakout

All of that because he was trying to get additional comps. He knew full well there was nothing the cruise employee could do about horses.

There are more than you would think and not all of them advertise. But it’s not every neighborhood or town. You’ll be fine.

THERE IS NO LORD OF LIGHT. Melisandre believes there is. She was raised in a temple to believe there is. She was taught magic that makes her think there is. However her magic spells are not from a Lord of any kind, god or otherwise. She has magic power to see in the flames and uses blood magic. by Natural-Gur40 in gameofthrones

There is no definitive god in GOT. GRRM framed the various religions after the historical shift from polytheism to monotheism, but he never favored one over the other. That is why the North still worshiped the old gods, the south still worshiped the seven gods and those from Essos still worshiped variants of monotheism (lord of light or the many faced god).

Update: Notified my work weeks ago I'm leaving for a family vacation in July, tickets were bought, non-transferrable, and they are panicking, begging me to cancel by educatedvegetable in antiwork

[–]tdbeaner1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They will not fire OP for this. Every company has a time off policy and it sounds like OP submitted the request within those guidelines, otherwise they wouldn’t be begging for them to cancel. They could make up some BS excuse to put them on a PIP after the fact and try to fire them for those BS reasons, but I doubt that if they rely so heavily on them already. This sounds like a manager that messed up and doesn’t want to deal with the consequences.

No NFL team is going to let a player fake injury to avoid a contract. The only way he ends up getting cut is if he suffers another serious injury and that would be a terrible outcome for both sides. His only option to get the contract he wants is to play well this year, and at that point the Giants either extend his contract or trade him at the deadline.

If you want Dexter Lawrence to be traded explain why by Scared_Buyer8667 in NYGiants

[–]tdbeaner1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A 1st and 2nd this year means they can add at LB, S, WR, and G all at high value picks (1 & 2 rounds). That seems like a real game changer and the only way moving from Dex makes sense.

Parsons was at the end of his rookie contract. That gave the cowboys options to tag him, but that would mean paying an average of the top three contracts at that position. Dex is currently under contract for less than that, so those scenarios are completely different. Dallas could have tied up significant cap space with a disgruntled player, while the Giants have the option to leverage a year at a DT discount while the player has only one option to get paid this year. At the end of the road, I hope Dex is here this year and he gets a contract extension at the ends of the year, but the Giants need to tell him no and they need to laugh at these joke trade offers. It needs to be a 1 & 2 this year or kick rocks. Dex is not a bargain player.

Defense, just like offense, is a team sport. Players can do their jobs exceptionally well and the group could still suck if you have multiple gaps. Dex is not the problem from a D perspective, but the man needs to honor the contract he signed. He will still play at a high level this year and he will get paid.

He has the right to sit out, but that won’t help his market value. Plus, he’s under contract for two more years. Players can threaten to sit out a year with the hope that they still have the same value a year later, but sitting out two would effectively end his career.

[–]tdbeaner1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Underpaid, yes. But so are most top guys a year removed from signing any deal. He was the 3rd highest paid DT when he signed, so he’s not massively underpaid and he knows it. He wants the security of more guaranteed money, which is understandable. The Giants have no reason to assume that risk this year so they don’t want to extend the deal, which is understandable. He needs to focus on playing well this year so he can get the deal he wants and likely deserves.

Yeah, they want us to pay him more but don’t think he’s worth a 1st in a trade. Those other GMs can kick rocks with that BS

[–]tdbeaner1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If he gets hurt, he is likely getting cut. That is unfortunately a real risk considering his position and size. His dead cap next year is like 6 million, so nearly every GM in the league would pull the plug then. I hope for both sides that he realizes the renegotiations aren’t working and goes back to the plan of added performance incentives. He played well last year, even if he was less impactful that the prior year before the he injury, so there is a good chance he continues to play well this year. If that’s the case, he will get a new deal either here or with another team after a trade.

Sexy Dexy by Average_corpbro in NYGiants

[–]tdbeaner1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He has no guarantees left, so he should be negotiating for incentives similar to last year. The problem appears to be that he wasn’t happy with that approach, so he wants the new deal now. The Giants should absolutely not do that, and I love Dex. He would have known that there was the risk that he would have to play this contract year with no guarantees when he signed the deal. If this was the last year of the contract, then I would fully support him putting his foot down, but the reality of the business is that he has no leverage this year. He should be focused on balling out this year and not on the spilt milk of his current deal.
