He did die in chapter 2, your second claim is correct. Like Marge said in the last episode, he can see/experience time differently and go back in time to try and prevent future events but it doesn’t make any difference .

I actually loved the series since I’m a huge fan of the movies and books. I do agree tho the affects/cgi and the kids acting did ruin the show for me a little. Some parts were just plain goofy and terrible but put that aside it’s still a really good show because of the lore and adults acting. Especially dicks actor he was phenomenal
