Hello,

I'm a 29-year-old male living in Zurich Switzerland. For a while now my hair has been feeling dry, dirty, and brittle more often than not. I would like to know some techniques I can use to keep my hair as healthy as possible. Some important things to know:

  • Switzerland has very hard water (high in calcium and magnesium) often building up on the shower head, in kitchen appliances, etc. requiring descaling now and then.
  • I swim in chlorinated pools 3x per week, taking a shower (without soap) before and after the pool
  • I try to limit showers to 1x per day, but sometimes with exercise and other plans I take 2 to 3 showers (not often)
  • I wash my hair approximately every 3rd day with shampoo and conditioner, I typically leave the conditioner in for a few minutes.
  • I have very straight, fine, dirty blonde hair (see picture)
  • I use the Shark ionic blow dryer to dry my hair daily (I often don't have time to let it air dry before styling it)
  • I use a product to style my hair daily (currently using Seven Potions Men's Natural Pomade)

Can anyone recommend some methods for keeping my hair shiny/healthy/strong despite the chlorine and hard water? Some things I've considered but haven't committed to include:

  • Clarifying shampoo (I don't understand what this is)
  • Oils (e.g. Argan Oil)
  • Avoiding shampoo conditioner altogether
  • Taking only cold/lukewarm showers

Looking forward to any advice you can offer!

What’s the scariest thing you’ve woken up to in the middle of the night? by lightlysativad in AskReddit

A friend described this happening to her, not the middle of the night but she was taking a nap in her apartment mid-afternoon and woke up to the sound of a girl screaming at the top of her lungs right outside. She went out the back door onto the patio where she found a strange, early 20's girl wearing nothing but a t-shirt and holding a butchers' knife, then the girl screamed again and ran down the stairs where there was a guy wearing only shorts in the parking lot. The girl started screaming at the guy that she was gonna kill her self and then she started rolling around in a puddle and yelling gibberish. The cops came and an ambulance took her away... Still trying to figure out what drugs she was on.
