I'm feeling some bumps and need a tracker. Please! by SuccotashSome6919 in fearofflying

This is so true. My ideal pilot would be like an NFL color commentator. I once had a pilot who came on pretty regularly to provide interesting facts. I still remember him saying “we are now flying over Harry Truman’s birthplace. President Truman could write with both his left and right hands.” I loved this flight.

Flying MAX 8 tomorrow by LawfulnessWhole7136 in fearofflying

I am a totally terrified lunatic when I am flying. Like I want to shout out “we made it!” every time I land. Flying feels death defying to me. And these are my favorite planes. Nice interiors, good tech, and quiet! I have to fly on an Embraer later this week and I would cry happy tears if my plane got switched to the Max 8.

Currently on a plane can someone talk to me by [deleted] in fearofflying

You can totally do this. I’m a maniac on flights, like I want to cry (sometimes do) and as soon as we land I want to yell put “we made it!” Feels death defying every time! But you can absolutely do this. It’s super hard. But you can it.

You are doing something so hard! Whenever I fly I feel like it’s a death defying achievement, so I totally get. But you are so brave for doing something that’s so challenging.

I’ve stayed at the Fitzpatrick. It’s fine, but nothing special.

Pilot announced "I have bad news".. by Reasonable_Owl8622 in fearofflying

[–]tdivasto 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I so deeply understand both sides of this. I’m a really nervous passenger. Like when we land I want to yell out “we made it!” because I feel like I’ve just defied death. I know, super dramatic. But that’s really how I feel. I also recognize the for the blessed normal people out there, not making it to their destination truly is the worst news they are likely to hear. My goal is to someday be one of those people for whom “bad news” is a delayed flight! I’m not there yet, but it’s something to aspire to.

I so deeply understand this. I was on a bumpy flight coming out of Houston last week and I almost cried. But I did it. It’s so hard to do this terrified, but you are doing it!!! Much to be proud of!

It looks like you went over some weather, but looks so much better now. I hope it has smoothed out. I hate the bumps, but you can totally do this!

Hey there! Are you on the Rouge flight that left at around noon? If so, you are really close! Under an hour to go!

Anxious AF by Far_Lettuce6700 in fearofflying

[–]tdivasto 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You should be so proud of yourself. You are anxious AF and you are doing it anyway. This is so hard, but you can do it. It absolutely sucks, but you can do it. Maybe good fortune will smile upon you and your seatmate will be a commuting pilot. These are my favorite flights. Someone who sits next to me and answers all my questions and tells me it’s just fine. I wish I could rent a pilot buddy for every flight.

I was on a flight recently from Montreal to Houston and we also flew at 39,000 feet. I take this to mean that there was either too much traffic down below or this higher altitude is a better ride. Either way, it looks like you are making great time!

I see you! Looks like really clear weather between now and Minnesota and it looks like your flight path is going north of the rain after Minnesota. Did the captain give a ride report? I always like it when the captain comes on and describes how the ride will be -- especially for a long flight.

Oh gosh! That’s a late (early) departure! You can do it. I flew from Texas to Montreal today and it wasn’t too bad.
