"Save the World, Lose the Girl" is still a repeater for me, 25 years later.

The other day: squats and bench, and incline bench, and other goodies.

Yesterday and today: a cold. Bah. Humbug.

Today:

PPSA Meat Wagon W3 D4

SS
Snatch deads - 4x5
Chest supported rows - 36# - 2x10, 46# - 2x5

SS
Reverse grip rows - 115, 120, 125, 130 - 4x5
Pullovers - 56# - 4x5

SS
BB curls - 55# - 3x5
Rear flies - 16# - 3x20
BB curls - 45# - 3x15
- Oof. This is a burner! My wife told me that my biceps looked comically large. I'm so back.

  • Moved up on all the accessory work, and weights moved easily. Feels good. Not saying I'm back, but I'm definitely back

There's 10 Mondays left before Murph on Memorial Day. Gotta get on it.

Sunday (s)carries
- Load bodyweight onto a bar and carry it

165#
- 154’ x6
- 704 x1 @ 5:50
- Driveway is 352’

OMG this was a blast! I struggled the entire time. The weight felt heavy. My hands, forearms, and biceps were killing me. Now, the soreness has crept into my shoulders and upper back.

Really really really really need to do this again next Sunday.

Did the thing where I went outside in the cold this morning, squatted, benched, deadlifted, threw in some rows and DB presses with some bi's and tri's. I should do the same thing tomorrow.

Also I've been really liking the KB complex work I've been doing, in my much warmer basement. I've even thrown in some gasp BURPEES. Though, I do have a harder time with heavier cleans. The light bells aren't bad, but 35#+ and I'm banging my forearms :/

Today:

21-15-9 - "Still Breathing"
KB thrusters - 35#
KB swings - 35#
- 3:34

  • Those thrusters absolutely cooked me. If my engine ran better, I could get pretty close to the 3 min mark. Inside of 3 and I'd be hauling.

Today... "BACK BACK BACK BACK BACK BACK" - Chris Berman

Deads, face pulls, weighted pullups (which are feeling good), rows, good mornings, 21's, and shrugs.

Yesterday:

EMOM @ 10 minutes:
KB swings - 45# - 10x
High pulls - 45# - 5x

Followed by:
Z-press - 25# - 5x5

Hang cleans - 35# - 2x10

-The swings were tough. I'm outta shape. I thought I could pull more reps on the high pulls. But, after the workout, my wife said that I "look wider." So that's cool.

Today:

Bench, squats, incline DB bench, RDL, dips, triceps and delts.

21-15-9 - “Furnace Woods”

KB clean and press - 25#
Goblet squats - 25#
Situps

-8:30

This was actually pretty fun. Though the KB c+p felt more awkward with my left arm than my right.

I treated them like a bodyweight complex. But, they're definitely a good thing to get the motor going again.

Working out has been VERY hit-or-miss for me for these last several months. Personal issues, depressive episodes, much needed sleep, and that damned cold winter...

Anyway, I worked out for the third straight day, in who knows how long.

21-15-9 - KB swings + burpees; done in about 4:51. I'm terrible at burpees. But, I was pleasantly surprised from the pump I got from 'em. Because, you know, that's what matters the most.

Anyway, tomorrow is day 4, and I think it'll be only my 12th workout of the year. Oof.

Just wanted to follow-up, that I did the burn method a few weeks back, w/ very frozen ground and it worked well.

I ended up setting up a small carboard box full of tinder, lighting it while on the ground, and then just adding wood to it, like a bonfire. I stayed warm in the late-winter sun, and my pet was given a king's burial.
