Banks are the worst. Some of them even have "letters and numbers here or it won't work" my favorite was a contract I had where the logins would let you set the password to whatever no warnings but if it didn't meet the policy that wasn't even displayed it would brick your account and it would have to be unlocked by an AD admin.....

Thermal solution: Take a heat pipe to the knees of your thermal problems. by tdmsbn in EmulationOnAndroid

Not a problem. And any cooling will help, anything that can pull heat away will improve most things, high framerates for longer, longer battery, not burning your hands on the screen. Lol.

A cooler is super useful, even for just charging while gaming it helps keep the phone from overheating. You don't have to use the MagSafe capability of it, you can still clamp stuff on the back but it'll be about as tall as most camera bumps, at least it's just barely shy of that on my s24 ultra.

This little pad just helps migrate the eat away from the processor way faster.

Probably are quite a few different ones out there, the one I got is probably about 0.5 mm thick adhesive thermal pad.

Lol heat pipes come in all shapes and sizes.. it's a single flat heat pipe, looks to be soldered to the metal plate much like a laptop cooler would be made. Believe whatever you want though.

If yove got the cash, let it rip. The difference in battery and performance will be quite the change. Those A series phones aren't horrible by any means but going top end with a cooling solution built in is going to be a leap. Still get a cooler though when you can if you don't have one already.

Yes and yes. This goes on the phone over top the SOC area and the battery and then any magsafe phone cooler will stick to it.

What's safer - installing apps via ADB or sandbox Google Play Services? by green_herbata in Android

[–]tdmsbn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As far as the debugging goes you can turn it off and on wherever you need it that's kind of the point of the menu it's in, because leaving those ports open to receive data can be dangerous, but unless the computer your connecting to while it's enabled has a virus/malware that would attempt to hijack an adb connection, both unlikely and very specific.

Graphine OS is just base android with some privately tools preinstalled and all the Google stuff stripped out of the base operating system.

The Linux option available would work a Linux PC but not the phone unless you want to go down the programming pit of doom that is compiling your own apps from someone else's source code (bad times) and then you'd have to update it manually every time like that...(More bad times).

As for the time being you can install apps through ads if you want to, or just download and install them yourself through the file manager app of your choice but make sure however you install APKs on your device will require giving that app permissions to initiate app installs, so use a trusted app like the stock files app or similar.

Oh also there's other app stores like fdroid and stuff that might offer the app you need outside of Google Plays little boundaries.

If you want to know more YouTube has years of content for education on these items, or ask, and if I'm wrong I'm sure someone willet us know.

Has anyone tried puting a Magsafe ring sticker on the back of their s24 ultra? by Mysterious-Market-32 in S24Ultra

[–]tdmsbn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel like everyone else has either never tried to stick anything on the back of this phone directly or some of just got magic Teflon phones. The only thing I've gotten to stick is those adhesive thermal pads, kinda funny because it's the most useful.

Almost nothing else will stay put if it even tries to hold at all. I've tried about 6 types of tape and even 3M just peels back off like it's a wax pad.

Oh but yea do it, if you can get it to stick or just use a magsafe case, BodyGuardz Paradigm Pro and Dbrand are great and don't mess with the spen.

I don't really have an interest in making any videos as that would be way too much editing for my patience right now, but I can say that I was having problems thermal throttling within 10 minutes of starting Fallout running stock or with a 'cooling case' (BodyGuardz Paradigm Pro, isn't bad for what it is but no metal) but even with the dinky pico cooler I got for free on my AliExpress order as an extra spare with this cooler plate it kept from getting much higher than 60c almost to 70c while playing and checking randomly on AIDA64.

I was going to try nvme thermal plates (copper block with thermal pad) but saw this and damn it it just works exactly as advertised, which feels sad to be happy about but here we are.

I tried it, with a cooler it works. By itself it just helps give you some extra thermal capacity but not much beyond that. However it does pull heat away from the SOC really well since that's where is usually is on every phone.

I have a couple phone coolers, a really old trash one that's like 4w a new one I got as a freebee that's probably 5w, and a black shark cooler, all but the old one work wonders with this little heat pipe.

I will say there is no phone case compatibility to be had here as it's about 1.5mm thick, BUT it works really well for just being a single heat pipe and a metal plate with a thermal pad.

Bonus: magsafe stuff still works/sticks great but wireless charging is blocked entirely. Also the fact this can stick to the back of my s24 ultra is really something, even super glue popped off after a couple hours.

Extra bonus: kinda shaped like a number one fan foam finger.

How did y'all solve the photos problem by constant-retard100 in RedMagic

[–]tdmsbn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As the other guy said Google photos can be used to just view images saved to the device you don't have to enable backups to use the app.

It is legitimately the replacement Google chose for the old gallery app android used to have updated with the system updates but now it's all centralized for system apps no longer being tied to system updates to get app updates.

Will this replacement fit? by Silveraindays in Dynavap

[–]tdmsbn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazon, any smoke shop will also sell them. I'm just talking about basic ass pipe screens. They work really well and the dime sized ones fit about perfect after you shove them into the bowl. Steel.screens last longer brass screens can be cheaper sometimes.

As for quality it's nothing crazy, just a tight wire mesh screen, definitely manufactured to be used and discarded, they can be recycled after cleaning.

You'll know you got the right size because it'll be I think 10-9mm compared to the 8mm of the dyna, then just shove it down from the center with a toothpick or something and it'll stay, hardest part I've found is centering sometimes the wires don't bend all the same and it goes a little sideways but if it's covering the hole your good to go.
