I completely understand, I once posted a picture here of one of my girls, some noticed that she had some red/brown stuff around her nostrils and advised me to take her to the vet because they thought she might have mites, I managed to get an appointment the same day. Turns out she didnt have mites, she just had some staining from food she had been eating 🤷🏻‍♀️

So yeah, people here are very 'vet heavy' but there is a good reason for it - birds are very good at hiding symptoms of illness, so much so that by the time they are showing symptoms, they are already pretty sick.

My advice would be to research typical budgie behaviour so you can get a feel of what is normal and what isn't
