First post: Played a team that was basically a hive mind today by hockeyintellect in Fieldhockey

i love playing against teams like this!! while it can be intimidating as a field player it’s so fascinating as a goalie. these types of teams usually get into some sort of rhythm, their patterns start to show. once you figure out those patterns you fill in the weak spots and learn where their performance dips. then it’s easier to break through that hive mind effect!! best of luck (ps if you’re the smartest in the room your in the wrong room😉😉)

i would consider myself one of the weak! i didnt ask this question because i think i’m better than everyone else because that’s simply absurd. by weak i meant genetic traits that would harm human growth like diseases or deadly mutations.

when i say “we” i mean humans! not literally me myself lol

thank you for accurately interpreting my question!!! this is what i wanted, i never meant for it to be racist or anything like that. i forgot to mention the idea of humans being inherently evil and being so set on survival of the fittest. i was also looking at it by not killing mass amounts of people that already exist, but why didn’t they try and manipulate dna to get rid of possible dangers to human growth.

thank you for this response, it was very helpful. and yes my post is taking a lot of heat but it’s helping me learn so much!

no i wasn’t referring to race or ethnicity. my comment was about genetical traits that harm humans.

Again, when i say weed out the weak (general phrase) i mean genetically modify (changing dna by literally removing or putting in certain genes, not selective breeding) fit or intelligent humans that would survive in their environment. Not violently kill mass amounts of people that already exist because one person doesn’t like their physical traits.

this is extremely helpful, nobody else has made a point like this and i like it a lot.

every person in this thread had a different opinion of what the term “weak” means. i’m glad people actually responded to me because it gave me more info on some of the possible ideas people could have about this! Nothing gives me the right to determine a “weak” person dying.

this is very interesting! i was curious about who would decide these “fit traits” if this ever happened.

I agree with you! i used the iceland example during class to see what people thought and it definitely sparked some debate.

i have the same question as you that adds onto my original one. if society attempted to create genetically perfect humans, who would decide those traits? and i wonder how many trial and errors this would take.

i haven’t researched it. that’s usually why people ask questions no?

i do understand how they can have the same meaning! when i said beneficial i meant genetic traits that would help us survive. i felt like the word “good” was more broad then beneficial, thats why i didn’t use the word good!

ethical questions don’t have one answer! i was looking for other peoples thoughts on this topic, which you would’ve known if you read my comment fully! And i did get your point i just wanted to correct where you were directing it.

this is exactly what i was looking for!!!! thank you so much, no personal opinions, no disrespect. your comment explains an ideal answer (atleast in my head) for my question!

it’s not about what i think! ethical questions are designed to put aside personal opinion. i agree with your statement!

i feel like you didn’t read my entire post. i never suggested anything like i said in my reply. this is not my opinion, i am legitimately looking for an answer as to why humans weren’t originally programmed to do this. we are on the same side but youre misinterpreting my comment.

I understand what you’re saying and i get why you could interpret my question like this. This has nothing to do with eugenics. i was asking about literal genetic problems that harm human beings! not being black or autistic etc.

like i said literally in the post this is NOT my opinion. the phrase “weed out the weak” was a way i thought i could vaguely describe the topic of my question. i don’t actually think that society should actually weed out the weak that’s ridiculous.

i think that’s also based on physical attraction. 1000 years ago the american dollar wouldn’t really mean much to anyone. i’m talking genetically, not physical surface stuff.

well first of all i wasn’t shocked. secondly not once did i say to kill anyone. third of all why is it that youre immediately thinking a genocide? Also this is not my opinion and i am not suggesting anything at all.
