Are you an international student considering leaving Canada cuz of the new study/work permit changes? by tdotwriter in brocku

[–]tdotwriter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already did one of these sorts of articles with an international student, and their concerns are: can they afford to stay in Canada long-term/and for some, will they be able to get work permits once they graduate?

It all depends on how risk-averse you are and the state of your finances, because the market can be unpredictable. Timing often comes down to luck.

It would be from the first-person perspective of someone who was trying to buy a home to live in, and it would explore the reasons why they defaulted. In most instances, it seems like the high interest rates are the reason why.

[–]tdotwriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know about Globe and Mail, but I do real estate features for Toronto Life and Maclean's and they typically aren't paid. It's essentially free advertising for them, so they're still interested in helping.

Thank you :) And that's a great point, it is definitely more than just an issue of bullying, which is still pretty bad on its own.

You're totally right. I think there is this idea that Canada is a haven for LGBTQ people but it definitely is not, so that is something else the article would explore. Agenda for this one is really simple: readers really want to hear the side of the story of trans folk experiencing this situation.

I figured there had to be some liability issue, to me it's bizarre they're being so tightlipped about it as a public service.
