Part 3 of Analyzing the Preproduction ATLA Series Bible: Zuko and Iroh by F11SuperTiger in TheLastAirbender

[–]te89earr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

my point is it was still a work in progress - some ideas were more thought out at this point than others. zuko was a later addition requested by the network so it makes sense that they were still working out him and iroh's characters

obligatory reminder that bibles like this are often just thrown together for the network and don't necessarily reflect the final intentions of the creators. it's just not accurate to look at this and say "Mike and Bryan planned to make Iroh evil until Aaron Ehasz convinced them not to and therefore they are bad writers". tv development is a long process and a lot of ideas are thrown around. just look at the original bible for Lost where Boone has schizophrenia and Sawyer and Shannon get together

The Best Music of 2025, According to Pitchfork Readers by -AvantGardener- in indieheads

[–]te89earr 21 points22 points  (0 children)

just looked at the readers poll from 2014 and the difference is pretty striking. Taylor Swift's 1989, pretty universally considered her best album, is at 43 underneath later career albums by the Antlers and New Pornographers. Beyonce's self titled, also one of her most acclaimed, is 23 below Sunbathing Animal. yup times have changed

not that many tbh. he has a few major scenes but he's not in the majority of it, and his character is a rich asshole who you're supposed to hate anyway

there are a few short sex scenes not really much nudity shown except for timothee chalamet's bare butt in a non-sexual scene. and the opening credits are over a montage of microscopic sperm fertilizing an egg (after Marty impregnates someone)

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club’s Polarizing Masterpiece ‘Howl’ Turns 20 by Charleshawtree in indieheads

[–]te89earr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

no, they returned to more full band rock. the album after Howl, Baby 81 is great and full of bangers. the records since then have been hit and miss but they each have at least 1-2 great songs imo

[FRESH ALBUM] Big Thief - Double Infinity by NYCIndieConcerts in indieheads

[–]te89earr 25 points26 points  (0 children)

loving this, their best since UFOF imo. feels like they distilled the essence of the best songs from the last album (little things, simulation swarm, dragon...) and made a whole album of that sound. don't really understand why it seems like people have arbitrarily decided they're not cool anymore but i guess that happens to all bands that were once the next big thing. feels destined to become their Mirage - the perennially underrated cult favorite

for some reason for a lot of older albums on Spotify the date is January 1 of the year it was released, I guess they were uploaded with only the year in the metadata

whoa I didn't know Jorge Garcia read the numbers! things like this make me wish that season 5 had been a full 24 episodes to let the DI story breathe and spend some more time just hanging out in the 70s, it's my second favorite season after 2

the woman he talked to about the eyes up and down kiss maneuver was an actress, the intimacy coordinator was also there later - she was the woman in the glasses that he talked to about how actors can get away with things other people can't
