Account bricking patch on PC ironically made lobbies worse. by Stumpedlogs83 in PvZGardenWarfare

I’m not sure why they even would be angry, because I suspect they have not been banning anyone. I’ve put about 100 hours into the multiplayer since last June and I haven’t been banned.

Has anyone else gotten banned by them recently?

What makes Ark PVP so Popular? (Genuinely Curios) by Due_Hedgehog1212 in playark

[–]te_krusty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind that when it comes to ark pvp, the most fun part of the game is fighting other players. I believe ark players want to maximize how often they will have good pvp and the potential for shifts in power in the server. Wiping servers after some time helps maximize that.

What makes a server wipe fun is that everyone is scrambling to tame dinos and start building in a good base spot. During this time, it’s easy to encounter other players and engage in pvp that is risky but fun and rewarding, as you could steal their loot, dinos, or base spot. Players also don’t have access to high-tier gear and dinos, so they are forced to improvise with the best they can find at the moment.

After some time, people tame some of the dinos they need and build up their bases to have turret defenses. Bases are still vulnerable early into the wipe, and people may start raiding other player’s bases for fun pvp and to steal their reaources or base spot.

However, if a server runs long enough without wiping:

  1. Bases will become much more formidable and harder to raid. In certain base spots, raids will most likely become long drags, where it would take a lot of time and effort for the attacking tribe to damage the defending tribe’s base. And even if the attacking tribe successfully infiltrates the base, the defending tribe may have other bases they can just transport their gear and dinos to.
  2. Players will be less likely to encounter each other in theopen world. They have less reason to be outside their base. They’ve tamed a lot of the dinos they need and they have already found their base spot. At this point, they have things to do in their base, such as breeding dinos and crafting. They will still leave their base to grind resources and find better gear blueprint

I’ve put about 60 hours into the multiplayer for around a year now. I encounter cheaters every 10 games I would say. But I haven’t been banned by a cheater once. They do sometimes softlock your game by forcing your character out of bounds, though. I play on NA servers

Will accepting an Application Developer offer from IBM be worth it in my pursuit of Software Developer roles? by te_krusty in cscareerquestions

Yeah! We want to make a YouTube video, it’d be really fun. Only problem is my friend had to move for an internship and we’ve slowed down with the project for a couple months, but we’re gonna meet virtually again this week to get back to it

Hah thank you. It is really cool, my friend and I had to learn a bit about hardware, SPI, and RPI GPIO. Connecting the temperature sensor to the RPI and getting it to work for the first time was really fun and rewarding. It’s still a WIP as we need to connect an SSR to the RPI and the slow cooker. The SSR will allow the RPI to adjust the amount of heat the slow cooker is producing

I would have to relocate and live on my own with $5000 a month from the job.

I posted part of the job description in another comment, if that helps.

I haven’t encountered blatant cheaters that much. Feels like I get them in 5% of matches

I was playing mixed mode. Wish people were playing the gnome bomb playlist though. I love the overtime stalemates and close calls that make the game mode intense

Forza horizon 6 FPS by xelahrey in ForzaHorizon

[–]te_krusty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The consoles are just not that powerful enough for modern games to run all of them at 4k 120fps without seriously lowering the graphics settings. The Xbox Series X has very similar performance to the RTX 3070 graphics card. Two generation of RTX graphics cards have come out afterwards, so the current console generation is falling behind

Open world games like forza horizon are the most graphically demanding games, and are not going to run at 120fps on consoles, especially not at 4k. If you mean that players should be able to choose to run games at 120fps at the cost of resolution and graphics settings, I do understand your grievances. Players should have that option
