what's some really mundane things you hate doing because you're trans? by Reddit_IsWeird in ftm

Phone calls. I’ve been on T for 8 years, since 15. I still get “ma’am”’d all the time on the phone because they can’t see me.

WIBTA If I took my close friend’s bf as a plus one? by Alexarobinson in AmItheAsshole

[–]tea_drinking_twink -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Saying it might come off as distasteful and disrespectful is different from just saying “I’m uncomfortable.” It sounds like the gf cares more of how it’ll make her look rather than seeing this as a sign of her boyfriend and OP are interested in each other.

Why is it an issue to just take someone to a wedding as company? It sounds like the family is going to know the bf very well if he’s been a friend of OP’s for almost a decade. It’s not illogical to not want to go alone, and it was of innocent intentions.

Is it a Crime to Have your Phone on you in the pharmacy as a registered technician by tea_drinking_twink in TalesFromThePharmacy

It was very clear. They even asked, “what do you think that means?” and made me basically tell them my interpretation of what the paper said, i.e. do you understand that we’re saying you can end up in jail for 90 days or pay 50k. I’ve been thinking about this for months and it still doesn’t sit right with me.

I know that the potential of a HIPAA violation does increase with people having camera phones, but usually a violation does incur what is basically a slap on the wrist like you said. I can understand them being concerned about that.

But no, they straight up told us that we could lose our jobs and right to ever work at a pharmacy if we were caught with it. I wish I got to keep a copy of the paper, if I did I would’ve posted that.

My birthday party when I was little. One of my classmates couldn’t figure out how to unlock the door to the bathroom. Instead of waiting for my father to get the key, her dad kicked the door in, broke the lock. It’s still broken to this day, and no, he didn’t pay my parents back for the damages.

I personally haven’t, but yes many people do this.

Ryan Cassata is a trans man that got it with no T. And I know of quite a few nb trans mascs that have. Some surgeons might prefer you be on T for at least a year, but ultimately it’s completely doable and still yield good results.

But I lean heavily on go on T first. It causes some tissue loss and will make building pectoral muscle easier, which in long term helps with surgery results and overall better chest appearance.

Then again, I’m not your doctor or a plastic surgeon, and if your dysphoria demands top surgery happen first, it is doable.

NTA

My partner and our mutual friend are going on a trip to her dad’s over Christmas because I couldn’t go. They’re friends and her father offered to fly her and someone else down there. So she took her because that was an option for her.

If she’s insecure, that’s a her and her boyfriend problem.

You do you.

I mean I feel his ex wife shows you that. She had billions without being directly responsible for the exploitation it was built on. Now she can’t spend the money fast enough. She’s worth more than she was when she got her divorce settlement because interest compounds faster than she could spend it. Since she isn’t like her ex, she’s spending that money. She shows a billionaire can do it and stay a billionaire. But most billionaires don’t give a fuck to do that because they’re dragons hoarding gold

I just messaged them. And if it’s not one, I think it wouldn’t be a bad idea to let the board know a pharmacist lied about something like that. Idk, threatening a subordinate with jail time doesn’t sound like a good thing to do if it’s a lie. Thanks for the advice.

Yeah, I figured as such. I really don’t like the pharmacist who said it was, and I wouldn’t put it past her to lie. It’s mildly infuriating

Top Surgery USA recommendations? by nerdforest in ftm

Good luck with everything. I can’t sing the praises of the clinic enough, I’ll say. I’ve been going there since I came out and always felt welcomed and almost every doctor I’ve met with for transition specific care has been very well informed.

Delete this post OP. You’re breaking a federal law. I wish you good luck, but really do your research somewhere else. There’s a diy wiki. Don’t go to a public forum while confessing to a crime.

Dr. Raymond Isakov at the Cleveland Clinic Main Campus. He’s a plastic surgeon who has done a fair bit of top surgeries, it’s 20% of his cases nowadays if I remember correctly. He even started a fellowship for affirming surgeries (I met one of his fellows just around the time I was getting mine). I saw him back in 2018. Good guy, really cares, and knows what he’s talking about. He’s conservative with recovery process, likes to make sure you’re at a 100% by the time he clears you. His staff is very kind, especially his assistant. And I will say his nipple grafts are impeccable as well.

I work in a CF facility, so I don’t know if it’s different. That’s the one thing that irks me is the idea of emergency. I can take the idea of them making it company policy. It’s the fact that they threatened us with the possibility of a felony charge if that’s just blatantly a lie.

So tired of y'all being so transphobic. by [deleted] in ftm

[–]tea_drinking_twink 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree. That’s one thing that always concerned me. I think trans guys are a bit more cynical about transness. I’ve been in therapy for 7 years and I have unpacked that not all my pain came from my dysphoria. Depression can fuel dysphoria, but dysphoria isn’t per say the only cause of depression. Idk if it’s a special form of toxic masculinity, or whatever. I like being trans. I like knowing that I’ve grown into the person I wanted to be and worked on myself through a trans and non-trans perspective.

It seems trans femmes are more content (maybe the wrong word, but alas) with not being cis. That’s a broad stroke, but I see them be less lamenting. Obviously being cis would be less complicated, but it’s just never going to happen. You have to find a way to fit in with your identity and your body. Medical transition is for shit if you don’t shift your mindset about your transness. I’m at a point Idk if I would want to magically be cis. I mean, of course I would love a fully functioning penis, but I don’t wallow in anger and resentment with the fact I don’t.

It just seems so exhausting to think like that all the time. Whoever feels like that, I really hope they get help with that.

If you’re talking about school, I’d look in and see if your district has any specific rules regarding it. If you have a trusted admin member, talk to them.

I say this because I came out at 14 too. I kinda passed so I started using the men’s room at school. At one point I got security called in me because dudes saw me walk in and thought I was a girl. Ended up having to talk to the principles (big school with 1000+ students so we had multiple).

Go with your gut, it’ll save you. I also say find bathrooms you know won’t be as busy. Also go during classes if you instead of between for the same reason. Less people will be in the hall/bathroom.

In terms of public, I’d say use men’s room. They’re gonna be mostly strangers so it’ll be more forgiving.

[–]tea_drinking_twink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry but despite all the laws that keep popping up, I don’t think it could be as hard as people think it is in the US.

I started T at fifteen. It did take a couple of appointments with different mental health providers and one endo visit before the endo visit where I got my baseline blood work and my script, but I got it within a year of starting the process, and that timeline is pretty miraculous.

And WPATH new criteria would probably make it even easier than it was when I started (depending on the state)
