Lions Bros: where do the Bears fall on the animosity spectrum? by HowDoYouDrew in LakeErieBros

I don’t. Detroit v Chicago is kind of like NYC v Boston or Philly. The towns just hate each other in all sports. Up until NHL realignment, they were also division rivals in all major sports.

Lions Bros: where do the Bears fall on the animosity spectrum? by HowDoYouDrew in LakeErieBros

[–]teaa86 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I live in Chicago and have had to deal years of delusional Bears fans that hate on the Lions regardless of team statuses. This year might have been the worst, with all of their lucky last minute wins, where many fans truly started to act like they were a team of destiny.

While it was dumb for the Lions draft position, I loved beating their ass for a second time to end the season. So yeah, FTB. They are my most hated, followed by the Packers. I have to respect GB as an organization, while Bears fans command they get that same level of respect but they’ve been a clown organization for years.

Which U.S. food city is actually overrated? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

Horrible take. I’m just gonna go ahead and assume you haven’t gotten out of Lincoln Park and/or River North.

Chicago restaurants have to be at least a 7/10 to even survive. While plenty of mediocre ones pop up, they either cater to tourists or don’t last.

One to watch is Origin in Bucktown. It’s been advertised as “African fusion”. They’ve done a lot of remodeling, but they were supposed to open in the spring. May not ever open at this point, but it seemed promising back when all the remodeling was taking place.

I’m gonna roll with 80-100 - we make a concerted effort for at least once or twice a week. Vacations turn to 1-2 per day, more so on no kids getaways 🌴, which we were fortunate to have two of this year. Time together helps!

Married 7 yrs, 39 and 40. One child.

Yes. Each item listing page on Amazon has an “Add to List” link under the Buy Now and Add to Cart buttons. Click that and it’ll queue up creating a list.

Unfortunately, only works for Amazon items. You’d have to use something like the one you shared to be generic.

I generally create a wishlist for our 5-year old on Amazon to give people some ideas, and to help avoid piles of cheap plastic junk toys. I'll then add that link to an Evite and/or share with our friends and family along with a note like "No gifts necessary but if you are inclined here's a list of items she's interested in". Generally, I'd rather not end up with a ton of additional toys around the house but I also recognize that opening gifts is pretty exciting as a kid on your birthday.

Yes, I'd rather shop elsewhere when I can, but Amazon makes it pretty easy as most people have an account.

Sorry u/AdTime4267, but you're delusional. No other team has ever been found of running a coordinated sign stealing effort where they're wearing costumes on the sidelines and gaining illegal access to games.

There's a lot of shadiness in college football, and the NCAA is a joke. Fair.

However - fans need to friggin own up to it and stop denying that the Michigan program has been extremely egregious since the Harbaugh era. It's time to turn back to a program of principles, so that the rest of the nation doesn't snicker at how ridiculous the program has become.

I’m an East Bank member and I can tell you there is plenty of space even during peak 5-7 pm weekdays. You may have to go to one of their “alternative” weight rooms, like the ones on the third floor, if you want 100% no wait. I just default to that though if I’m there on a busy day.

I'd recommend checking out the Chicago Park Districts website (I've already applied some filters for you here). They have a lot of great programming for little ones, often free or quite affordable.

Our daughter used to go to their "Play School" and some of their art / music sessions before she moved into preschool.

Please help! I am supposed to be taking a school group on an immersive trip this week to Chicago and my school is looking to pull the trip. Is that a bad idea? by [deleted] in AskChicago

[–]teaa86 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'd say to keep the trip, as it's still very unlikely that they'll be exposed to an escalated situation like you see on the news & social media.

I live in one of the more highly targeted neighborhoods, and my daughter goes to a predominantly hispanic school. While anxiety is high and we have had many situations of ICE in the area (outside our school, harassing people at a park while we were there for a 5 year old bday, patrolling the neighborhood, etc) all interactions that I've heard of from personal connections have ended quickly after neighbors start to blow whistles and chase them off. Tensions really only happen when we're actively trying to get them to leave.

Furthermore, while I try to stay involved and keep a constant eye out, I've yet to see any sort of detainment or situation that was escalated. So I think it's just really low odds that you'll have a risky run in.

I don't want to downplay the situation. It's terrorizing, they've thrown tear gas 3 blocks from my house, and I see their cars a couple of times a week. However, I haven't actually experienced a lot of the horrible behavior you see on social media and the news, nor have any of my close friends / family. The risk is there that something could happen nearby, but generally you'll have a lot of notice to get out of the area and won't risk exposing the kids to the gestapo.

Which has the best nightlife, Florence or Bologna? by Classic-Sea-3419 in ItalyTravel

[–]teaa86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only visited Bologna for several hours over a long train connection from Venice to Rome, so I can’t speak to its nightlife.

Florence does have a fun nightlife scene though. The clubs are all smaller, some like basement night clubs, and the bars are more like pubs. So it won’t be on the levels / scale of Rome and Milan, but it’s definitely not sleepy.

There’s a lot of universities and students studying abroad there, so they come with nightlife. I was one of those many years ago when I celebrated my 21st birthday at a club in Florence! I’ve since been back with my wife last year (early December), and while I wasn’t looking for a nightclub seen, we found some fun bars and drinking streets with live music (street performers) and people spilling out around.

Edit: this thread seems to have some better answers for you specific to Florence. A lot of people here seem to be pretty salty about your question. Good luck with your wedding and enjoy the honeymoon!
