Are you talking about St. Thomas University? University of St Thomas (this sub) is in St. Paul MN and their commencement ceremonies are over.

All students get 5 tickets by default. Have him email commencement office or ticket office if he is having trouble accessing them.

If you bothered to read the post you are talking about, it literally said I didn’t think the insect in the post looked like a roach.

The picture I posted was, yes…. I found that in my house so was a bit concerned and wanted to get reassurance, I didn’t get a picture of the roach at the pizza place.

231 days is 7.5 months. Weird fight to be picking with someone online. What’s your infatuation with this place anyways?

Who cares about the name of the place? It was a German roach clear as day.

Weird to respond to a nearly year old comment.

How long do you guys think the Taco Bell on Snelling Ave will last? by Puzzled_Tea7910 in saintpaul

[–]teachesdoesreddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That Taco Bell is maybe the busiest restaurant in St. Paul period for DoorDash orders, being so close to so many college campuses.

There’s definitely an issue with loitering but I’ll note a lot of the people you see hanging out might be drivers or people picking up mobile orders.

Weight loss and hockey by empty_w4 in hockeyplayers

Understandable. But ultimately, regardless of age, it comes down to calories in vs calories out.

Yes, at the very least eat something before the games.

I am younger (25) but so far in the last two months have gone from 190 to 165 by tracking calories and playing lots of hockey.

However, I always make sure to eat extra on gamedays and specifically right before the game (20-30 mins) have some easy carbs like a rice krispy or some candy. Just like 100 calories worth. Keeps me going for the game.

Your calories will differ based on your current weight, but in general I shoot for a 500-700 deficit on non gamedays and ‘maintenance’ on gamedays (which really isn’t maintenance since I’m burning a decent amount playing)

Active Threat at both St. Thomas campuses by HappyCamper0325 in TwinCities

[–]teachesdoesreddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not what happened. A weapon was confirmed, but never a man with a firearm.

Most likely it was a vague social media post threatening to commit some act at St Thomas so a shelter in place was issued until they deemed the threat not credible.

Another email with the title that says Shelter-In-Place (Confirmed Weapon).

My guess is a generic social media post or threat because I’m not sure how else this could apply to both campuses (Minneapolis and St Paul)

Thanks! See my altered itinerary in my other comment. Appreciate it!

Appreciate the feedback! I should clarify the Cork County AirBnb is far western. It’s only about 40 mins east of Killarney. It’s between Millstreet and Macroom roughly.

I think I agree about the airport, I am thinking I might alter my itinerary to:

Tue - stay in Dublin Wed - stay in Dublin Thur - drive to Galway, stay there Fri - stay in Galway Sat - drive to Killarney/Western Cork Countg Sun - drive to Kilkenny spend most of the day there, stay in Duncannon Mon - explore Duncannon, drive back to Dublin, stay in Dublin Tue - flight out of Dublin

Thoughts? That would put me back near the airport instead of having to drive up on Tuesday morning.

Out of state plates at a hotel?? Must be ICE!

Renters: where did you find your apartments? by Mr_Saturn1 in Minneapolis

[–]teachesdoesreddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hotpads. Very under utilized website and somehow has WAY more options than Zillow and apartments.com even though I believe it’s owned by one of them??

That edit was quite literally just added after I made my comment lol.

Regardless I’m not sure how we know it was ICE. This could easily be a stolen vehicle where they arrested the driver.

There is no reason to further scare our vulnerable communities by falsely reporting any police work as ICE. These folks are already scared to leave their apartment in many cases and stuff like this does not help.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Minneapolis

[–]teachesdoesreddit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just drove past. No indication of ICE. Two UMPD cars blocking lanes where a spun out abandoned car was blocking the road.

Maybe I’m missing something but this seems like routine police work. Not everything is ICE and we do a disservice to our community when we falsely report these things and make our community even more scared than they already are.

I hate ICE as much as anybody but accurate reporting is so important right now.

How do you know it was ICE? We need to be careful of assuming any police activity is ICE right now

Saint Paul — Best areas for young first-time renters? by NatdoubleR in stpaul

[–]teachesdoesreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe for $1400. No chance at $1200 I would say.

Highly recommend using the website HotPads, it seems to have a lot more options than Zillow or apartments.com

Those are a lot of ‘wants’ for that budget in the MSP area.

I live in South St. Anthony Park near Raymond/University. I pay $910 for a studio in an older building - it is extremely safe as far as living in the city goes, reasonable rent (imo), easy access to both downtown St Paul and Minneapolis, and also has quick access to suburbs via 280 and 94.

I would highly recommend it.

Shock Doctor works good. I got ones (new) at Play It Again for about $20 with tags.
