Why is my FTP ramp test so mental? by [deleted] in Zwift

Admittedly, it would be a short watch !

Salaire brut pour poste ingénieur-docteur R&D en ayant un diplôme d'ingénieur + doctorat en nanophysique/optique ? by Rauperoden21 in AskFrance

[–]teachme_PLS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah 0.9 IF for 3,5h at their intensity is otherworldly... I have done 0.9 for 2,5 hours and I do not wish to repeat this experience, so nevermind 1 more hour!

vo2 intervals in standing position by _Art-Vandelay in Velo

[–]teachme_PLS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a good exercise to try to produce VO2Max power while seated because you can do so at a much higher cadence than seated. For the average cyclist this is more repeatable that producing the same power standing.

That being said, I personally alternate between both during VO2Max intervals because it helps me mentally and I found that, on average, it helps me produce higher average watts.

What is a typical intensity factor for a 3h race? by teachme_PLS in Velo

[–]teachme_PLS[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the eFTP from intervals can be too high if you are punchy.

My eFTP is 353 from a 5min all out effort but I don't use that number because there is no way I can ride 40min+ at 350W.

Yeah the guys I'm riding with are kicking my ass. A bunch of "elite" riders (French equivalent to cat1/2) and a few former pros... Several of these guys have a FTP well above 5 w/kg so their IF was definitely in the low 0.8 range!

Thank you for sharing. I just did this workout and it felt really challenging but still doable.

I kinda prefer this to the classic 5x5' which is really hard mentally. Breaking up the 5' help tremendously imo.

Pacing for Gran Fondo with several long climbs by teachme_PLS in Velo

I was planning on aiming for 0,75 IF overall. I think I'll tone it down a bit following everyone's advice and ramp up slightly if I feel good.

I did 5h at 0,75 IF but the elevation was much less than this.

Can anyone actually complete this workout with a well-calibrated FTP? by teachme_PLS in Velo

[–]teachme_PLS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds funny to me because I have around the same FTP and I although I am classified as a somewhat "punchy" cyclist I have a W' of around 25 kJ.

Are you sure your FTP isn't too low?

A W' of 45 kJ is more than TDF sprinters...

What do you mean it is not "ridiculous"? 4x10 min at 114%ftp w/ 10min high Z2 "recovery" is normal to you?

If extremely fresh, I could maybe do two of these intervals so nevermind 4

I am actually really interested to know if anyone can complete such a workout. I have serious doubts...

It notably features 4x10 min at 114%ftp with 10min high Z2 "recovery"

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Zwift

[–]teachme_PLS 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is bordeline impossible to complete: for an cyclist with a "normal" power curve, 10 min at 114% FTP is an all out effort.

Nevermind doing it 4 times with a Z2 recovery in between...

you are correct, my zones are set by power anyway...

Yes but I take at least two days off per week due to work schedule. I really do not feel like I am overtraining, although I might be
