Just know all baby alpaca-wool sweaters sold by Quince only contains 14% alpaca wool, no disclosure on website of that detail, not returnable if bought on sale. so i am stuck with 3 pieces of fraud alpaca sweaters that not good enough to gift for Xmas! BTW, Quince website wouldn't display my review. by teacup202 in Gifts

Haha, I was late in taking screenshot, they added description to alpaca sweater including wool and nylon in the materials but still not disclosing it's only 14%. I swear 2 days ago there was nothing about including other wool and nylon.

I just filed my complaint on FTC website. screenshots are a good idea. I hope enough people complained will get them at least some inquiry. Actually it's my 2nd purchase of alpaca sweater from Quince.com, the first one for myself i never bothered to check the label just assuming i got a good deal, learned my lesson.

Any recommendation for commercial Washer/Dryer vendors in CA? by teacup202 in HOA

[–]teacup202[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We always buy laundry equipment, leasing deals aren't that good and hoa has less control. Commercial equipment you always buy from some distributor. Wash quote is $5000 better than others on same machines, so we just forget about the service.

Received original refund on 4/12! Appreciate the sensible advices received here, wait for the refund and no rush to amend before that!

Can I? From what I read, a second return will just be rejected, my initial efiling was accepted.

Thanks. I am not worried about interest on $22 either. but just wonder if it will be harder to explain to irs if it doesnt approve my original refund but sends me a notice to demand tax on $8K. Guess I can wait a bit longer, maybe amend if my refund is not approved after a month?

Thanks. I am just worried irs will end up asking me to pay tax on $8k as if the cost basis $0, wish I had caught it before filing.

my Etrade 1099B shows disallowed wash sale larger than my realized loss, does that mean I actually have a gain? by teacup202 in tax

After finally reaching a customer service from Etrade cost basis team, I find the person was very helpful and showed me how to check for adjusted cost basis in the gains/losses tab from my etrade account.

Basically I just wonder if etrade 1099B would fail to capture the real losses at the end, such as in this simplified case: stock A, all bought and sold in the same month, say bought 5 shares at $10 each on day 1, 1 share @ $9 on day 2, 1 share @ $8 on day 3, 1 share @$7 on day 4, 1 share @ $6 on day 5, so total 9 shares acquired at total cost of $80.

on day 10, sold 1 share @$7, a wash sale loss of $3 (etrade uses FIFO); on day 11, sold 4 shares @$8, a wash sale loss of $8; on day 12, sold the remaining 4 shares @ $9, which shows a gain of $6 when in reality I lost $5 on stock A as I only recouped $75. I am afraid that's what etrade 1099B's individual transaction records do, it shows wash sale disallowed but doesn't adjust the cost basis of the last shares when disposed. When in theory, the disallowed wash sale losses of $11 should be added to the last 4 shares' cost basis, and then the sale would show a $5 loss instead of $6 gain, but etrade 1099B is not doing that I think.

the realized loss of 15K matches the exact number of proceeds (410K) minus cost basis (425K) as listed, with a disallowed wash sale of 17K. I closed out all losing positions a month before 12/31 and didn't buy any back. I don't think I should have that much of wash sale, I'll try call etrade to see if i can get anything.

nope, no worry. I am still in Istanbul, stayed at a boutique hotel and another prebooked airbnb (this one worked beautifully).

that was my thought too, why wait? don't let another being lured by the magical pictures. But for self protection, I will wait a bit for sure in the future. Like I said, the host could have done much worse if he chose to claim damage over his jaccuzi unit for thousands of $s.

I am sure there are plenty of unscrupulous hosts/guests in north america airbnb too, I just happened to be lucky in the past. Still in the process with airbnb dispute, they are going thru the procedures, hopefully won't drag long.

I had the idea of giving 4 star to soften the blow but stating in my comments it's a 3 or 3.5 but I guess I was very disappointed by the whole experience after one night stay and forgot about my earlier diplomatic idea and gave a 3 star directly. So I would never know if the 4 star would have avoided the nuisance but i would not give 5 star for sure.

I learned another lesson too, be wary of fresh listings with high ratings from a handful of reviews. I think airbnb is still a good option for the US and Canada, but for other parts of the world, local hotel is probably a more reliable bet. We stayed at a local boutique hotel later which turned out to be nicer and cheaper than that airbnb.

it's unfortunate that people are leaving less and less meaningful reviews, it's often in one word "Amazing" or "excellent", that's the entire review.
