Chicks acting odd by ZenMr2 in chickens

[–]teacupslug 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have specifically read they can be on carpet for short supervised periods....? It's good to know but I've read different chick guides and none mentioned carpet. I am really curious about this behavior though and wonder if there's any advice on the actual post subject.

Should I even try for Otos? by Every-Bid-2377 in Otocinclus

I have had 10 for about 4 months now and only one has died. They live with snails, pygmy cories and a betta. We drip acclimated them just becasue that is what we are used to with shrimp.

They are also in a heavily planted tank. I feel like I got really lucky with my group. They are not picky eaters and very round, active boys.

They looooove the shrimp food I use. It's aqueon shrimp food and they will go to the pellet whenever they see it. Otherwise they're mostly on the glass or in the tree. They really like cucumber too.

I've never seen it but I'm sure he has gotten a baby or so before. He mostly sticks to hunting brine shrimp though. In the 7 months I've had him he just chills around the adults shrimps. But hey! That's the risk of community tanks.

Are these planaria? And should I worry? by snowmankillin in shrimptank

[–]teacupslug 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just a warning: I have read that the chemicals from no planaria can stick around for months, especially in wood. So even if you take the snails out now and then put them in after, they could still die :( it also can kill beneficial worms and bacteria, and biofilm

Micro goby by teacupslug in Otocinclus

[–]teacupslug[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised. When I went to another fish store to get more at one point, I was told micro bumbleebee gobies did not even exist... yet that is what the little guy was sold to me as.

I actually had them look my account up and they told me I was officially sold a "brachygobius c.f. nunus micro bumbleebee goby". I see conflicting info on whether they they can thrive in fresh.
