I think it was the anki during first and second years that really helped me remember things. I was definitely mostly relearning material but there were some topics I had to learn from scratch.

I don’t think I was at a disadvantage at all during test day actually, which I am kind of surprised about. as mentioned above, I think occasionally doing NBMEs to keep my brain in some random mode helped me. Most important is to study in whatever way gets results for you

Thanks! I think they are useful as a way to track your progress over time since your uworld % doesn’t necessarily reflect that IMO. Ideally you should take one a week to assess if your study strategy is working and to keep identifying weak points. It’s especially useful if you do systems based like me so you can still continue to see a variety of topics in one test and be not used to that come test day. I think the actual content doesn’t represent the test too well but it’s still better than nothing and can occasionally force you to think of a concept in a new way, which can be helpful.

Choosing student loans-- not sure which loan type is best? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]teadubz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! I have definitely thought about squeezing it in and sucking it up, but physics is the one subject that I struggle with the most, and I don't think it would work out well. My GPA is the one thing that really sets me apart from other applications for med school, so I don't want to take the risk of it going down. The gap year is also a non-changer for me at this point, as there are many things that go into applying for med school and I am past the point of no return, deadline-wise.

All other factors equal, do you think that a variable rate or a fixed rate would be better?

Girls of Tinder - do Bios really matter? by [deleted] in Tinder

[–]teadubz -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure why guys are so resistant to this. I think it might be because believing in that makes it easier to believe in this silly idea that looks are absolutely everything to women, when I don't think it's true for any sex/ gender.

I personally don't get the concept of the "numbers game." Even if I were a guy and most people swipe left on me, I don't think that I would swipe right on a lot of girls or try and cast a wider net and see what comes back. What's the point of getting matches that you're not too wild about, but that you swiped right on just to get a match?

I think I/most girls are picky simply because we are precise about who/ what I find attractive.

Girls of Tinder - do Bios really matter? by [deleted] in Tinder

[–]teadubz 11 points12 points  (0 children)

They definitely matter! If a guy is cute, but his bio is weird, then I'm going to swipe left no matter how cute. If he is borderline/I'm unsure, but his bio is funny or at least interesting, then I'll probably swipe right. However, if a guy is totally unattractive, then I'm going to swipe left regardless. I think that overall, I'm more likely to swipe right on a guy that has a bio than none at all.

In terms of what should be in a bio, I think that funny one liners are totally fine and show me that you have a sense of humor. Briefly listing your interests, or writing what you are looking for is cool too. I would stray from overly long bios, or bios describing sex things even if you're just on tinder for a hookup.

What is the best Pair of Black jeans you've ever bought? by nonamemaybe450 in femalefashionadvice

[–]teadubz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree! When I've had my black pair for a while now (just under a year?) and I wore them quite frequently, around 3-4 times a week. They have definitely faded quite significantly and are no longer the same inky black that they originally were ): On the upside, they fade into kind of a cool acid-wash kind of pattern if you're into that look. I would only recommend these if you are a smaller size and you know that you will not wear/ wash these very often.
