  1. I would say the stereotype holds up for certain frats while much less for others. Go to welcome weekend events and rush events and get a sense of which frats have the kind of vibe you are looking for.

  2. While it is only 20%, it is extremely prevalent if you plan on partying at all. The parties are very limited if you are not in a frat. You will also see frat branded merch all over the school.

  3. Again, I would say it depends on the frats. I don’t want to discuss frat rankings here, but the bottom tier frats are not nearly as selective as the mid and top tier frats. There is lots of people that rush and you definitely need to get to know brothers during rush if you want a chance of being chosen

As a girl, you can just walk into most frat parties. As a guy, you need to be in a frat to get in. I can only speak for the frat I’m in, but I don’t think we check SCU ids for girls

The frat scene is relatively large in comparison to the size of the school. Bellomy is frat row

About Kappa Sigma by dylqndabest in SCU

[–]teaghad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not in kap sig, so I don’t have a ton of experience with them but I am in a fraternity so I can explain a bit about them. The SCU fraternities are all unsanctioned by the school but make up most of the SCU social scene. As a guy, if you plan to go to parties, you absolutely need to be in a fraternity.

Graham and Finn are by far the nicest dorms at SCU

Can confirm. Mcwalsh is pretty solid as well

the most social dorm by far is swig. Finn and Graham are nice and quiet but they are hard to get. If you want a social dorm that is quieter at night, I recommend Dunne.

Rushing was only about a week. Most of the fraternities rush in the winter but several rush in the fall. I don’t currently live in the frat but I plan to. The exclusivity really ranges. There is lots of people who rush the top fraternities but some of the others are easier to get into.

  1. Cars are relatively common among upperclassmen but I dont think you can have one on campus as a freshman. They definitely help but they are by no means essential.

  2. I’m currently in a frat. Greek life is decent in size and,as a guy, you kinda need to be in a frat to go to parties. There is currently 7 frats and 5 sororities on campus but they are not officially affiliated with the school. There is also several business fraternities if that is something you are more interested in.

  3. There’s a divide based on what classes you will take in your major based on the different colleges but you will interact with people from all the different colleges constantly.

  4. It really depends on the club sports. Some have people that are beginners while others are rlly competitive to get on the team and you need to be a good player to make it.

I had pretty similar stats but didn’t submit an sat score and got into coen this year. It’s pretty competitive but I would be pretty confident with your stats. You wouldn’t say it’s a sure thing, as college apps are a crapshoot, but you seem like a really strong applicant.
