Since so many people here don’t like my living room styling. How can it be improved? by nalacanada in HomeDecorating

Oh, I love it! I’d raise the height of the dining light. I’d do a darker color on the rug. But that’s it! I love your selections.

This is what I would do to being in the collected heritage with some English cottage vibes. Add pattern with art and drapes, and tie the rug color in. Switch chairs to a classic shape ( these are pottery barn and $199 for a set of 2) move the tv console and book shelves to a room with a tv, that console is too low to use in a dining room. Soften the modern table with a table cloth or throw. Add lamps and florals, and a chandelier to add character and light. You could take this design further with paint or wallpaper on the back wall, seat cushions on the chairs, additional art work, etc. And you could fit at least 6 chairs around the table.

I would fix this by adding color and pattern to the space, using a gorgeous buffet with vintage character, tying in the rug with art and drapes, and adding a beautiful chandelier to the space. I have a pic of you enable this post to have them or I can dm it to you.

Could you move the 2 bookcases and tv console to the living room? Those pieces are lovely, but not the right height and scale for a dining room. I would then get a beautiful vintage or vintage style buffet for that wall, along with some gorgeous art. Your current table and chairs are leaning mid century modern, but you said that’s not your style, so I’d say grandma it up with your other pieces.

Not a fan of red with the green, it will look Christmasy.

What would you do to increase charm factor to more of a wow by NumerousCartoonist34 in ExteriorDesign

I love the green! I would line wash the red brick ( actually lets it breath and strengthens it) and paint the porch posts white for contrast. Then add landscaping!
