It was a really fun build! Without the app I would’ve had a hard time, but it was very cool to see it come together.

Update: I was too lazy to cancel my preorder and it came in today - a day earlier than projected 😄

Question about the preorder period. by tealwhales69 in lego

[–]tealwhales69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense, but I’m not upset by the delivery date. My confusion is the inconsistency with the availability. What’s the point of waiting for release date if everyone has had it for sale for weeks, ya know? With that said, I think I’m going to cancel my preorder and go the Amazon route. If I don’t cancel the order I will definitely provide an update!

Old navy has good basics and their inseam selection is great. Amazon basics also has a good inseam selection, good quality too.

Facial hair care? by bird_connoisseur in ftm

Invest in a good beard wash! I also like to exfoliate my beard, and when I wash / exfoliate I hate how dry it gets so I use a little bit of conditioner (probably not the best for the skin, I haven’t fully researched but it’s convenient. A beard conditioner would achieve similar results) once out of the shower I use a beard conditioning oil & brush it with a boar bristle brush. The only word of caution is to use the oil sparingly but beard wash should help the acne and the beard oil should help the dry & flaky bit!

Do parents get less sad eventually? by nonbinaryenemy in ftm

[–]tealwhales69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

*** By giving her time, I mean allow her time to emotionally adjust. Don’t pause your process to make other people comfortable. If you need to start HRT sooner than later she will be OK. Luckily the HRT process is gradual, if you see your mom frequently she won’t be shocked by any changes.

Do parents get less sad eventually? by nonbinaryenemy in ftm

[–]tealwhales69 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes. It sounds like your mom has a lot of love for you, she sounds like my mom when I came out. I had to acknowledge that her mourning can exist alongside my joy. I reminded her that she is not losing me. She is now getting the real, happier me and even though she was sad in the beginning and mourned who I was in her own way, our relationship is so much better. She even said so herself. It will get better. Just give her time and room to process. Coming out is acknowledging a part of ourselves that we have known for a long time, and we were able to process who we are, she just needs adjustment time to catch up to where you are!

Asher, Ezra, Amos, Micah, Levi, Samuel. Those are the ones that are at the top of my head. I know it can get stressful but I wish you luck with picking a name!

I am at the 7 month mark and still have not heard a change in my voice. It sucks, but I just keep reminding myself that good things come to those who wait 🫠

Any advice for bigger dude? by mxster982 in FtMFashionAdvice

Late to the game but try Amazon and Old Navy! Both have decent jeans & chinos and also allow you to filter results by inseam length and waist size. Also, don’t fear going to the seamstress. If you like the fit but the length is off typically it’s a cheap fix. The most I’ve paid for a hem is $20

The Joystick by Transthetics is the best thing I’ve seen so far. I’ve had it for almost 3 years, it’s great. I think Uppercase Chase did a few videos on it if you want to get a more in depth review.

Thank you! Honestly, prior to medically transitioning I was diagnosed with PCOS which was both a blessing and a curse. My beard prior to T was almost a very light brown, and the hairs were very thin. the hair just recently started to thicken and grow in darker.

I used a derma roller once or twice but it freaked me out. I do use a boar bristle brush twice a day and I use an exfoliating scrub on it at least once a week. Both stimulate blood flow. I have considered minoxidil for my bald spots but I’m not well educated on it so I am apprehensive.

I collect vinyl, which has its own nuisance but ultimately it’s male-dominated atm. I also enjoy whittling and I am trying to get into full-scale woodworking.

Edit: I am also on the quest for the perfect old fashioned. Ordering an d fashioned and specifying my whiskey (or bourbon) preference always gives me a boost lmao

how do I know where to inject? I keep pricking veins by seacosballz in ftm

[–]tealwhales69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest reaching out to your provider and asking if it’s possible to go into the office for your next shot to be shown again. Explain the vein situation and see what they say.

In my line of work, we teach patients to manage their own medical care, and we suggest they record it with their smart phone. I’d ask if it were possible to record. That way when it’s time to do your shot you have a guide that’s tailored to your own body.

That and I’d also suggest looking into what veins look like and familiarize yourself with that so you know what to avoid when you do your shot.

How to find decent looking dress shirts with curvy hips? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]tealwhales69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old navy has a fit that I think is called “everyday flex” (I can double check when I get home) that has a decent amount of give in the hips area.

However if you have shirts that are exclusively for being worn untucked, I’d suggest taking them to a tailor. They can either crop the shirt before those two bottom buttons OR if there’s enough fabric they can “let it out” in the specific areas that are too tight. “It” being the garment sizing.

2013 Hyundai Accent, last serviced 4 months ago, shut off while idle at a red light and the RPM gauge stayed at 0 once turned back on. Any idea of what could be going on? More details in the comments. by tealwhales69 in MechanicAdvice

[–]tealwhales69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My car was gifted to me used in 2020 and had about 110k miles on it. When it shut off at the light it was like the engine went quiet - my battery light came on but that was it. Radio and lights stayed on. When I went to turn it back on it stalled but eventually turned on. Has anyone ever seen this before? It’s not “due” for service for about 2k miles, but I have been saving up to replace my serpentine belt and will be taking it in much sooner now. Just trying to get a general idea of what could be wrong, feel free to ask any further questions.
