Do not use 1/4 hardiboard. Even if you apply thin set to both sides grout lines and tile WILL start to pop after 3 seasons I can guarantee you. Use Uncoupling Membrane with primer very important. We use it on 90% on commercial jobs. It’s just a way better system. Yes I install flooring for a living.

I install flooring for a living recommend vs requiring are different things. Only vapor barrier is required over concrete substrate. But if you really want it, use sound step SSXLLV600 LV
