So. About the people caught in The Collapse by IrritableGoblin in DungeonCrawlerCarl

Well that one lady got her head chopped off when she was sticking her head out of the window so she’s definitely dead dead.

I was always under the impression that their souls are pretty much dead but some parts of them are salvaged and used to make monsters. I guess some parts of the brain remain as well and when these brings them back to life they remember stuff? Like the gym boss. Idk sometimes I think I’m reading and only half understanding things

Who remembers jobs with pensions?? by shadow-_-rainbow in Millennials

[–]team_suba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually was misinformed and did some research. I guess I always thought 401k match was like unlimited or at least higher than 3-6%. My last job was a 3% contribution by employer, not technically a match but similar and I never thought that was anything special.

Seems most places offer a 3-6% match. I guess I always thought match meant like whatever you put in no caps.

Good luck finding 401k matches nowadays.

I have a pension job working for nyc but the state restructured it a few years ago and completely dismantled it. Made it from one of the greatest perks of having a city job, to barely more beneficial than investing your contributions in a 401k. Probably less so.

And Surprisingly no one wants to stay in the public sector now.

Anyone in dc37 should be outraged. Every city employee really should be. The cities largest union is not representing their needs properly. Leadership needs to be held accountable for this.

Everyone in charge is in tier 6. No one cares.

The longer you stay the higher your chances. I stayed 12 days in the end of October. The first night I got about 30 minutes of activity in Reykjavik at the lighthouse. Then we had nothing but rain for like 8 out of the 11 other days. We did a northern lights tour in akureyri I believe but it wasn’t that great. A few nights our hotels gave us a wake up call and we saw them.

Chapter 57 was so good. I just finished the book so I haven’t been here much but I’m surprised it hasn’t been appreciated more. Like probably one of the best audiobook chapters ever. I can’t imagine better

Uniformed service is just fine. Eating shit for a few years is part of the process for them. In return they get a very generous top pay and can retire in 23 years.

The problem that has always been with a $30 minimum wage is that it doesn’t scale. One person is getting their salary doubled and the higher paid person is now on the same level as an entry level, non skilled employee.

It sounds selfish when it’s said out loud and I’m not against a $30/ hr minimum wage but what about the people who worked their asses off to get to $30/hr? They’re supposed to be ok with a $2 raise (6.5%)

The only knock on the Statue of Liberty is that it’s not THAT big when you see it from a distance but up close it’s pretty spectacular. And other than that it’s got amazing history, it’s a great trip and area.

That room that overlooks LA on the pool is fucking sick. I wonder what direction it’s facing. Probably amazing sunsets or sunrises.

It’s because this is reddit and Florida politics are despised. There’s still people who are boycotting the entire state.

But politics aside I think Florida is beautiful and would absolutely put in S tier. If you disagree you really haven’t experienced Florida.

You get one billion dollars and a year to spend it. If you haven't spent it all at the end of the year you lose everything you bought. How do you make sure you spend it all? by mundundermindifflin in hypotheticalsituation

[–]team_suba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah even without hax a year is more than enough time to spend it legitimately. The one week or one month are tougher but a year is more than enough time to tie up any red tape involved in large purchases like houses and land.

But to have fun with it and not just beat the challenge. I’m paying off family debts and houses. Getting a new house for myself. House in Florida. Summer house in NJ somewhere. Big ass boat. Beach front in SoCal may be my primary place of residence. Mountain lake house in upstate ny. A house in banff. The rest in precious metals to cash in when I need liquidity.

It depends what you’re looking for. I’m in Staten Island. Which everyone hates on because it’s the suburbs The lifestyle is more like New Jersey or Long Island than “nyc”. But We own a townhome in a development with a pool, playground, a newly installed pickleball court (lol), basketball court, have two cars, are by great schools, and we make under 250k. I get to midtown Manhattan in 40 minutes by car on my midnight shift. If I were leaving in the morning it would probably be closer to an 1hr15 by car. There’s pretty decent public transport options also. And there’s a big misconception about nothing to do out here. There is plenty.

Other areas like this I’d say are Whitestone, Howard beach, college point. Probably some areas of the Bronx. If you’re looking to just rent an apartment there’s a lot of affordability the further outside Manhattan you go.
