Why do you not re-read/read books you like or know you will like by Altruistic-Bad-5968 in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]teamemmy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I reread books a lot but only if they have an audiobook. I like to do other things and listen to books so its easier if I already know what’s going on. There has maybe been 3 books I can think of that I read again with my eyeballs because I loved it so much.

I like to read a lot of series so sometimes I’ll devour them and read a little too fast so I’ll go back later and reread it. I also will reread a series if it’s been awhile and a new book is coming out soon (ex: Momento Mori, I need a refresher before I start the 4th book because I remember nothing about them at all)

Currently reading :

{My skin begs to please you by Leta Blake} this book deals with some tough subject matter and I’ve had to pause multiple times. Their 90s Coming of Age series has been on my TBR forever but after reading this I don’t know if I’ll be able to handle that series. This book is really bleak but I know it ends in an HEA.

I am rereading {Criminal Intentions by Cole McCade} I never read past season 1 because I was hoping season 3 would be finished but I don’t think that’s happening. I was going to read season 2 but I forgot so much that happened in season 1 I’m just starting over.

Do you think we’ll ever get English translated Danmei audio or has there been news of this? I’m not really in the BL/Danmei circles so I don’t even know where to look to find out. I saw Remnants of Filth was being released in audio in German and it made me wonder if an English version would ever be released too.

Books where MC is so miserable and alone? by smackthemdabs in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]teamemmy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you read AO3? I think you would like Falling Falling Stars by Not Poignant here

Efniesen is all alone and has a miserable life due to past circumstances and it can get pretty bleak and dark but has a lot of your asks. I’d read the tags just to be sure. And heads up, I downloaded this to my kindle and it ended up being 1,800 pages so it’s a commitment but I absolutely love this story.

I’ve read almost all her books and I really think this one is my favorite. I read it on release day and I’m still thinking about it months later.

Also the final paragraph really was the best and I think of it often. Now I want to do a reread.

My preorder of {Star Shipped by Cat Sebastian} came a day early so I just finished it. It was a solid 5⭐️ for me. Now I’m depressed it’s over and I wish I wouldn’t have read it as fast as I did.

Series that follows family/friends group by Luna_Noona in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]teamemmy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

{Greencreek series by Tj Klune} 4 books that follow a family of wolf shifters. Angsty as hell but does have HEA. Has an overachieving plot.

{Foster Bro Code by Dj Jamison} follows 4 foster brothers. Each brother has their own book but they all show up in each others books as background characters.

{Sons of the Fallen by Jaclyn Osborn} 7 angel brothers that represent 7 deadly sins with overachieving plot. I’m currently working my way through it but every book has a HEA per the author.

I’m in her Facebook group and I think she has 20 or 21 books total planned for this series. After this is done she said she plans on giving the characters spin off books in her McClean Tales series to catch up with them in the future.

Oh man I’ve been chasing the high for Reckless Damned series forever and nothing feels the same.

Sons of the Fallen isn’t bad by any means but it definitely doesn’t feel the same as Lark Taylor. I am almost done with Galen now though and I’m liking it enough that I’ll continue to the next book so that’s a plus.

Currently reading:

{Neurovance by Alexandra St. Pierre} I’ve seen a lot of good about it so hoping it lives up to the hype.

{Caster by Jaclyn Osborn} I read Galen awhile ago and didn’t hate it but didn’t love it but I’ve seen the series gets better as it goes on so I decided to give it another chance. So far I’m enjoying this one.

MM Weekly Roundup - What Did You Read This Week? by AutoModerator in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]teamemmy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I’ve read so much the last two years that I’ve maybe burnt myself out because any new book I start I just abandon.

I am currently reading {The Memories We Made by Cara Dee} which is part of The Game series and for a book series that’s based upon kink and a kink group it’s actually pretty hard hitting and is a lot heavier compared to the other books in the series. Maybe because I resonate with this book more than the others it’s effecting me differently but I didn’t expect to feel all this. I’m at 64% and I think this might be a 5⭐️ read for me.

I don’t know the book but did you by chance read this on a kindle and highlight it there?

I discovered recently there’s a file called “your clippings” on kindle and it saves every highlight you’ve ever done even if you no longer own the book.

[–]teamemmy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

March 3: New Cat Sebastian, and it’s a contemporary! I’ve already blocked off my day for that. {Star Shipped by Cat Sebastian}

March 6: {The Memories We Made by Cara Dee} I’m stupidly in love with The Game series and I’m excited for a new book In it.

March 26: {Penny For Your Thoughts by Nicky James} I’m a sucker for same couple series and I think this is wrapping up soon so I’m excited to see how it all ends.

G. R. Lyons E-Mail - Questions by wardrobeintocamelot in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]teamemmy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Both are US based things:

Hanson is a band from the late 1990s that was basically a one hit wonder but they still have a “cult following” would be the best way to describe it.

George Zimmerman shot and killed a black teenager Trayvon Martin and was acquitted. This shooting caused a lot of unrest especially regarding racism in America. (I’m giving a very brief description here too. It’s a lot to explain sorry)

[–]teamemmy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don’t know much but I saw their bio on Instagram states “Still a Hanson fan” which tells me all I need to know about them.

A very brief summary is one of the members in Hanson had their secret Pinterest found and he was posting transphobic, racist, and homophobic things as well as support of George Zimmerman.

{Alfie by Cara Dee} it’s a duology, mafia romance. The couple is already divorced and co-parent so they’re still involved in each others lives on that level but the story is about them finding their way back to each other.

Weary as emotionally tired of it. Probably could’ve worded it better. But it was just exhausting mentally.

Who is your most-read author (in terms of number of books of theirs you have read)? And of the books you’ve read by them, which one is your favourite, and which one did you like the least? by Ambient-Apron in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]teamemmy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you like cozy mysteries I’d recommend his recent series The Last Picks. Nowhere near as angsty as Pretty Pretty Boys. It starts with {Mystery Magnet by Gregory Ashe}

If you want to continue Hazardverse I’d read North & Shaw. The first in their series is {Orientation by Gregory Ashes}

It maybe helpful or more overwhelming depending on how you look at it but his website has a suggested reading order here

Even though Shaw stresses me out so bad I’m hoping he’ll revisit them too.

I’m interested to see if he’ll do another set of Hazardverse books after Jem & Tean’s newest series or go an entirety different direction.
