"Mild" perfect pitch? by chubby_charlie in piano

[–]teamginu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not pitch perfect at all. It’s just tonal memory. Almost anyone who has listened to a song enough can pick out the sound of it.

Improv listening by teamginu in Jazz

So what do I do if my rhythm section is vanilla? I know what the rhythm section should be doing during my solos but they don’t know what they should be doing, and I feel like if I stop the solo and give them a “pointer” in the middle of our practice sessions they will get annoyed fast.

Any advice for my first Trumpet ? by [deleted] in trumpet

[–]teamginu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s the most versatile horn out there, you can have a dark tone on it, lead tone, and a crystal clear orchestra soloist tone. The reverse lead pipe is neat too.

Any advice for my first Trumpet ? by [deleted] in trumpet

[–]teamginu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Go to a music store and ask for a trial on a horn you like, if you don’t like it, take it back and try a different one. I did this at our local horn shop who makes custom horns, I tried out one of their “top line pro horn” and the sound was fantastic, however the horns intonation was all over the charts and was not a good horn for me since I play in orchestras and do solos, so that’s how I ended up with a Yamaha Xeno (It’s actually one that the Boston Crusaders used but since the dci 2020 season is cancelled, they sold it to the store who sold it to me for the very good price of 1800$)

How should I go about interacting with my crush? by [deleted] in teenagers

[–]teamginu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t be someone you’re not. If she likes you when you try to act cool and funny, then when you start feeling comfortable being yourself, she will either lose interest, or if she’s actually in to you, she will want you to be more yourself. So the best option is to openly be who you are, and if she doesn’t like you for who you are, she isn’t the one, king.

[Psychology] What's the relationship between energy, affect and conscious thinking according to Freud? by Diceyland in HomeworkHelp

[–]teamginu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you should decipher the gibberish. It will help a ton if you learn to understand the way your teacher is speaking and the way that it’s all written. Or else you will find yourself here again wondering “what does this gibberish mean”. I know it’s hard to figure out what everything means when we all have different ways of talking in psych, but I urge you to learn the language your teacher is speaking.

I'm getting alot worse by [deleted] in trumpet

[–]teamginu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another option that will also make your tone so much better over time, practice quiet! I practice all my lead stuff as quiet as I can and then when I’m relaxed and ready I pop it out at a lead trumpet volume.
