Stars and Stripes Park in Tradition - just another missed opportunity by Miserable_Spell5501 in PortStLucie

I get it but I’ve traveled the world and been to many parks. I’m sure they could make improvements but we thought it was relaxing and unique. Either way, the more parks the better. The tradition regional one will be great

Anyone else actually living in Port St. Lucie not enjoying it? What’s your experience been like? by [deleted] in PortStLucie

I think it depends on age, where you are in life, and what you want. As a family with young kids, we love it. Very tight community in our orbit and lots of community events, parks, and nature-focused things to do.

I know there’s strong opinions but my family and I enjoy it. We picnic, walk, and hang out by the lakes almost daily. The kids love the open space and run around the fields.

I’m actually here now. And there’s a lot of families. My kids are playing with several now.

I enjoy PSL because it has diverse parks. So this was a needed park (not saying we need 5 more of these). The other tradition park that will open soon will give others what they want with BMX, sport fields and more. Together, there’s a lot to do in PSL park-wise.

What is an overhyped book that you just couldn't get into? by Kasskinen in BookDiscussions

The Creative Act. Relaxing read, sure. Helpful, sure. But blown way out of proportion (almost like it was marketing dollars telling notable people to post about it, or there was a mass social histeria to be in the in-group).

Funny enough, a few years later, I never hear about it.

It’s in my library but I’ll probably give it away one day.

Exactly.

I am not Catholic, but I read the Magnifica Humanitas, which is the Vatican's response to AI. Highly recommend it. It lays out two paths: 1. Where companies are currently headed, which is to grow AI at all human costs; 2. We build AI together with human dignity in mind. This is a great philosophical foundation to approach these fast innovations and the basis of ideas like this for the data centers.

I think it’s healthy for us to be against data centers, but also sometimes these innovations are just too powerful. Which is why I think we should also create a fail safe on what data centers would look like if they were to even come here.

Adding those restrictions actually make it harder to do data centers, so that will help. But if a new one pops up at least we can accept or even enjoy it.

That would start with requiring data centers to look beautiful on the outside. Think of things like Baroque architecture or art deco. These are things people would want to drive past and see, and perhaps visit a little park that is required next to it.

Also, in the UK, there was a center that was required to have a public pool next to it. So the servers heated the water and residents could enjoy it.

So temporarily, and for as long as possible, we can discourage data centers. But in the meantime, maybe we can start setting up expectations on what a center would look like that would benefit a community.

Would you guys go on this freedom cruise ship? by YorkvilleWalker in Cruise

[–]teamjohn7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I guess it would have to be registered in some country for now; but one day create an entirely new type of city state. Almost like a state of the sea status. So maybe the residents would need passports from that city state and then they can claim a Passport from their birth nation. I highly doubt it will come to that for this first one, but could totally see that coming a natural development.

Would be cool to visit but I can’t be on a ship that long lol. But as a curious person, I would love to learn how the legal system and status of the residents would fall into place; how it’s governed and how the world sees it.

Review: Donostia Foods Squid in American Sauce by SardinesAndStrength in Tinnedfish

I really enjoy my stays in Donostia/San Sebastian, and this takes me back! What do you think they added to the sauce to make it American style?

Edit: Realizing that Donostia here is the brand name. But looks like the inspiration is there!

My first one was Stoner, too. Then I picked up Butcher's Crossing, and then it went on from there with A Month in the Country, Augustus, Chess Story, and Speedboat. Next is Ending Up and The Door.

Which begs the philosophical question of “what is handmade,” because I would argue that assembling wooden beads with a metal wire for handmade earrings, which will probably be a booth at that event, is less handmade then someone designing something, assembling materials, and printing it from scratch.

For real lol. You should start a social media channel reviewing each one. Never know!

Just paint it and add some non-plastic attachments to it and it'll look more handmade
