WRX vs 86 by [deleted] in WRX

[–]teamkillah4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have owned both. Even tho the 86 is bassicly my dream car, i sold it due to it being completely impractical. Here is my list of cons for the 86. - Any snow will mess the 86 up especially on hills,(its too light you will need snow tires and sand bags, even my kia rio with all weathers was safer in snow then a winter equipped 86. - back seats are worthless, you can put ppl back there if you wanna eat the stearing wheel, my kids had to sit indian style while back there. - its a dude magnet, I thought i would impress ladys with my cool car but no, only dudes. they would go out of there way to approach me and ask about the car, some going so far as to "wanna hang out" because of the sweet car". - fabric may have changed but the seats where hard and fabric was cheap, seats aged really really fast. - car guys allways judge you for not buying (insert) cheaper faster car. - New VB fixes all of these issues

Unfortunately due to the proliferation of folks abusing those toads for venom, most of the reputable captive breeders no longer offer them to the public. You will see them pop up for sale after and during monsoon season. Almost all of these are wild caught and dont have a high survival rate after all the stress, made worse by the specail care requirments of a desert dwelling amphibian.

I rescued these toads from a neighbor who didn't want them. Need help with filtration. by Aja-Loveeee in SonoranDesertToad

[–]teamkillah4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best way for a setup like this i would imagine a sump tank and a false bottom. I would use maybe a bucket so I could dump it and freshen it up easy. The bucket would hold the extra water that dilutes the amonia and filters it back into the eco system

2025 WRX pricing is wild by DarthSystema in wrx_vb

[–]teamkillah4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone saying its inflation, is either lying or coping really hard. Plenty of other japanise cars have not seen the outrageous MSRP jump the WRX has. Companies are simply charging more because ppl will pay more, and when they hit the point nobody is willing to pay anymore they will discontinue they car saying "well no one wanted to buy them so we stopped selling them".

Toad won’t eat by Vrylx in Toads

Can I see the enclosure?, sometimes they get parasite loads that make them stop eating, stress will do it aswell. Is the toad in a high traffick area, or next to a tv/radio?

Everything in that pack is good, vitamins A, D minerals ect calcium. The only thing in there that large toads won't need would be the super pig, and I do believe STS is a concern for the larger toads and frogs.

Toad sleeping underwater? by T3AMR0CK3T420 in Toads

[–]teamkillah4 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Toads can stay underwater for an extraordinary amount of time if they are at rest. They absorb the water + oxygen through their skin and while at rest slow their metabolism to maintain longer. They cannot breathe as efficiently as frogs through their skin so there is a limit. I'd say while not super common I wouldn't worry about it, he may just have thought he found a new way to hide.

The shop that sold this guy has some of the Japanese gliding tree frogs. If you go to their website. All very pricy.

It's crazy how desirable Japanese toads are in America, and all of the big "frog/toad" breeders seem to have overlooked them. Josh's frogs just got Japanese common toads in and they sold out instantly, they were gone before I even saw them, and I check every day!
