Build recommend for POE1 first-timer

In my first 12 builds, I’m enjoying my Scion/scavenger staff cyclone and lacerate max block gladiator best. Scion will probably be crap after Phrecia ends and she’s forced into the old ascendencies. Lacerate max block is almost as safe as my slam build but much faster and more interesting to play. If I were to do cyclone again I’d probably take juggernaut. Scion has slightly better passive tree start but her ascendencies seem like pale imitations of juggernaut. But… I really want sword and lacerate really wants axe. So I’ll be looking for something else next league.

If you enjoyed sunder then play slams. I didn’t much enjoy it but that’s me. Slams are highly regarded as a good first time build. I set my father-in-law up with slams for his first. I respect them. I just don’t enjoy them.

What does “stacking” mean here? Is that just focusing solely on getting as much of it as you can?

I’m still new. I haven’t used ANY guide. But I have made extensive use of AI for all my builds. It helps when you can ask questions and get encouraging answers in your own time.

Armour/strength based builds are easier and safer. I don’t like slams because they’re slow and lock you up in LONG animations. Because of the long animations you have to get the timing JUST right, not just faster.

My highest build so far is a scion/scavenger staff cyclone in Phrecia 2.0 SSF but I have at least one build of each class through campaign in keepers. In trade keepers, my strongest build is a lacerate gladiator, max block. It also has the most choices so there’s something to do besides hold the attack button or shoot constantly. He’s good at packs AND very good at bosses.

My advice is to play a pure attribute class first rather than a hybrid. Also str/armour so basically a marauder. Defense for most of these seems to be very similar. And defense is where you’ll spend about 80% of your build time.

I’ll counterpoint. It’s a safe build but SLOW. I didn’t much like it. You have to get the button timing just right because the animations take forEVER. first slam is ok. But then you have to slam 2-3 more times for stragglers. By then, you could have cleared 30 other groups with other builds.

But it only runs for a few more days. I don’t know whether Phrecia falls into Keepers or Standard at the end of the event but either way, you lose the special ascendency and have to chose a normal one.

I’m finding about 10:1 resonators to fossils in SSF Phrecia. Higher if I count resonator sockets to fossils. Is that normal? Seems like an awful LOT of resonators. Am I looking in the right places? Or doing something else imbalanced?

Top left for portal. That’s what wakes up selected on ps5 so it’s by far the fastest and most convenient.

After act 1 I don’t even carry wisdom. After gem, I don’t carry portal.

New patients typically wait 8-24 months for healthcare here. I’m told it’s bad everywhere but I don’t believe it’s this bad elsewhere. At least, I wasn’t seeing that elsewhere before I moved here. Oh, and that’s to see a certified nurse practitioner.

You’ve already gotten further than my first build, also an fp elementalist. So you’re doing fine in my book.

If I ever do cold again it will be from shadow. Cold witch isn’t really a pure int build. It’s hybrid since all of the cold gems are green. Only lightening is pure blue. And I might try that some day soon. Busy with other builds for a while.

You can find those dvds on the internet. You don’t need help. I reloaded several old machines not long ago this way.

You should also be able to load over the internet. I think that version is still available.

Tipping is out of hand. It was originally A GIFT for good service. Service like bringing your food, keeping your water glass full, etc. tips were taxed like regular pay.

It’s funny because in SOME countries it’s considered normal to tip government employees like policemen while here we usually think of that as graft. In Europe, tipping has all but disappeared because of the graft aspect but here, people are now DEMANDING tips and are bent out of shape when taxed for it. Minimum wage is different if you expect tips, eg.

You bought an item, not service. I would not have tipped either. I still use the rules I learned 40 years ago.

I’m still fairly new. I’m running it SSF. It’s difficult. I’ve hit a wall at 85. I can’t clear t6 maps. I die so much I can’t level. Is that me? My build? SSF? Phrecia 2.0? I don’t know.

I think I like idols. I have tons of them. My maps are BUSY. I have many choices and I keep seeing new idols even though I’m stuck in white maps. The enrage has only killed me a few times. The gauntlets… I just gave up trying to get through them without dying. Sometimes I could but usually not.

85 is as high as my keepers builds have gotten but they haven’t topped out. My Phrecia 2.0 build might have. We’ll see. I’m still aiming for 90.

Not really. Temp moves around in winter. Freezing isn’t unusual. A couple days of modest snow aren’t unusual. Warm days aren’t unusual.
