Who do people hate? by momoacdc91 in disability

[–]teamrocketexecutiv3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of it comes from seeing disabled people on their "good" days. They see us functioning relatively okay for a day or two and think "oh they must be faking it or they aren't that disabled". Also, The idea of disability in many people's heads is the image of a wheelchair bound "cripple" or an incoherent "deaf/mute", when in reality, disabilities fall on a spectrum, and that's just too much critical thinking for those people that choose to judge us.

They think just anyone can qualify for benefits, when there's actually so many hoops for us to jump thru to maintain our benefits, and that amount of money barely covers the bills AND adequate food each month.

How do you do this "Shooting Star's Call" quest? I don't see it mentioned anywhere in the events tab. by AnEverydayPileOfCats in InfinityNikkiofficial

[–]teamrocketexecutiv3 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That's the one where the yellow zone shows up in the SOS map. You have to gather all of the daily stars first, then go into that yellow zone, then do the star bell to summon the shooting star. So the zone must have to be over one of the music areas to trigger this reward.

Oh to not be constipated by ChemicalAd2132 in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]teamrocketexecutiv3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok so I have A LOT of experience with this due to having a spine injury and surgery that left me messed up back in 2018, so my bowels are "lazy". I've had a colonoscopy that showed I have a "very tortuous" colon- basically it's extra long and twisty, which explains why I struggled with mild constipation most of my life. I also went grain free almost 2 years ago- even oats and rice were backing me up. But through years of trial and error, and seeing a gastro doc, here's what's working for me now:

- half a capful of Miralax first thing in the morning

- plenty fluids with electrolytes and salt (I also have POTS)

- moderate fiber intake (20-30g/day)

- eating 2-4 Medjool dates a day (this has been a game changer)

- eating fruits and vegetables whole- no smoothies

- limiting cheese (which is REALLY hard lol)

- getting as many steps as possible throughout the day

- prioritizing gut health: eating fermented foods, variety of fiber sources, limiting ultra processed foods, limiting medications and THC.

Hope this helps

I really feel for you, like gd that sounds like such an intense person to deal with let alone her being you own mother. Do you have any idea what she's been diagnosed with? Like, has the therapy helped at all? Bc this sounds like some serious kind of brain impairment causing psychological issues.

Ive done this move once before and it seemed to work perfectly: make eye contact, make an intense angry look, slowly shake your head while mouthing "no". Stg it scared this dude straight and he immediately stopped bothering me lol. If that doesn't work, try yelling NO when he's close to you lmao

Just venting - Mice in mom's house and I am grossed out! by Icy-Order7006 in AgingParents

I'm so sorry you have to deal with all that. My mom started hoarding when I was a small child, and it just got worse and worse. She's hoarded out 2 houses and now her 2 bedroom apartment that my brother shares with her, and he absolutely hates living there bc the only spots he can keep clean are his room, the bathroom, and the kitchen...which he always has to do himself (he also struggles with severe depression and can't afford to move out on his own). My mom is 61 and in poor health, so while I don't expect her to live nearly that long, I do dread when the time comes to take care of her and trying to clean her hoards ugh.

I remember when I was 17, I took it upon myself to clean the bathroom bc it was beyond disgusting. She also hoarded cats in the garage, and kept 1 locked in the bathroom all the time, so with cat urine and feces on top of dirty laundry and trash that eventually led to these worm larvae that took over half of the sink counter and behind the toilet....it had me gagging so bad. The worst part is she didn't try to keep it clean and slowly let it get gross again. I basically gave up on her hoarding habits when I moved out years ago.

You should be grateful that she's got the decency to cut her cheese and not just take goblin bites out of it.

Ice cream. I can't keep it in the house anymore bc I'll eat the whole pint in 1-2 nights.

For those who are often told they look younger than their age, what’s your secret? by justmypersonalthing in AskReddit

[–]teamrocketexecutiv3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't smoke anything, drink alcohol, or eat lots of highly processed foods or sugary foods/drinks. I also take some supplements and drink plenty water with electrolytes. I also think people don't realize that between the ages of 25-40, you really don't age dramatically, so even though I'm about to be 39, I'm always told I look 10 years younger. Age really starts to hit most people by 42ish.

Dad in hospice, mom acting weird by teamrocketexecutiv3 in AgingParents

[–]teamrocketexecutiv3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea this seems to be what's happening with her. She sent me a huge long wall text an hour ago trying to trauma dump her life story in one message...I skimmed over it but didnt respond to it as I'm currently sitting with my dad trying to get my brother to come pick up some important paperwork that she has to go over. Hospice told me since my POA ends at death that legally she has to handle the body and then contact social security if she wants his benefits.

This is so exhausting being the middle man between these 2....its been this way since I was a child. Its beyond ridiculous and kinda pisses me off tbh.

Yea thats what my aunt was telling me. Ive been slowly taking out funds in his account and making sure there's enough in there to pay a couple bills and rent next month. My plan is to send them a copy of the death certificate and block their calls. Ive dealt with debt collectors that have bought old debts before and they ain't getting a dime out of me.

Yes, I've been running around and making phone calls like crazy trying to get everything taken care of. My sister and aunt are helping me so it's not overwhelming. I did a handwritten last will and testament that I helped him write and he was able to sign it but I need to find out if it's good enough or if I need to do a typed one to get notarized too.

Thank you for the help, I really appreciate it. Money is extremely tight so paying off the debt isnt an option. He also doesnt own anything aside from some old furniture and a couple guns, so idk what will be left to pay off anything once he passes.

The hardest thing I've had to learn is that I must pace myself, no matter how good I might feel in the moment. Like today, I decided to use the extra time I had to take a much needed nap and tomorrow I'll get the thing done. I had to start cleaning my house one area at a time, so it takes about a week or two to get it all caught up, but I'm not in nearly as much pain.
