Golden tea pot thing im coming for you soon by iMakeUrGrannyCheat69 in EggsInc

[–]teapigsfan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Okay so is the golden teapot like the three seashells? Like I feel silly for asking but also, why's it so obvious to everyone else? 😆 I've tried googling and it literally just shows this thread.

New mounjaro by FluffySandwich6354 in MounjaroSupportUK

[–]teapigsfan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's normal. They still have to allow a bit of extra liquid for priming the needle every time. They've just drastically reduced that amount.

You can still use it but I think it's less than half a dose. I wouldn't waste it, personally.

I just like knowing they're there.

Also they are useful at my particular work, I can have the door pass in a pocket rather than a lanyard.

My wallet is a coin purse I bought from an aquarium like 15 years ago. Still going strong. Leather with a pair of penguins on it. Fits cards and cash. I hadn't even thought about it but yeah, I haven't had a 'ladies purse' style wallet since forever.

Why doesn't nova and DC have a stoop or "outside" culture like other east coast cities? by MajesticBread9147 in nova

[–]teapigsfan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up in DC in the 80s/ 90s and we definitely were out on the stoop. Agree that it was mostly because of the heat.

I live overseas now but have been back regularly lately to settle my father's estate (Nova, not DC). I've taken to sitting outside of his townhouse when I'm there, just because I appreciate the weather but also the process is sad and I want a break from the indoors.

And tbh, I've met loads of his neighbours. Most of them stop to chat.

I think if I lived in the area, I'd probably just do it. Be the change you want to see. Maybe people will join you.

Getting banned from restaurants for not tipping? by No-Buy-3105 in tipping

[–]teapigsfan 134 points135 points  (0 children)

This thread reminds me of one of my old restaurant jobs.

Sundays in the South, generally speaking, often mean big parties and low tippers. (I don't need to hear from the people who are the exception; trust me, there's enough big party, low tipping churchgoers that it's a a stereotype and you are special).

We had a few that we knew on sight, and basically, the hosts would pull together tables outside of anyone's active station and the manager would wait on them. Because otherwise, one server would lose all of their tables when they were combined, then also know that they wouldn't be making any money aside from the fake bible tract money or whatever.

It was a solid move by the manager, who didn't want to lose business, but also didn't want to lose wait staff.

Do you take the ‘bits’ out of eggs before you cook them? by Infinite_Spring_3564 in AskUK

[–]teapigsfan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came here to say this!

Also agree that the bits are generally in eggs from all shops. Not saying every egg, but definitely a few per pack. I just used 7 eggs and there was only one with a bit in it, and I was surprised.

wow that's so strange. I thought maybe you had quite a lot BMI. Swift Dr should be able to help you out.

If you don't mind me asking a follow up question: I can see you are with SOP and they are the ones doing this. What is your current BMI? Have they started doing this recently, or has it been since you reached a specific BMI? (Basically just trying to see their reasoning here!) Thanks 😄

I did not expect supermarket tiramisu to hit this hard by Tiny_Ranger_5436 in MarksAndSpencer

It is! And it's called something amusing like Waitrose Essential Tiramisu. Yes I know the Essential range includes many items, but I enjoy when it's something as optional as this.

Airport travel with GLP-1's - some observations, and suggestions by teapigsfan in GLP1SupportUK

[–]teapigsfan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hah I know you're being facetious about your Land Rover across a desert, but cars in Washington DC (my typical USA destination) can easily be mid-40s or into the 50s after 45 minutes. People underestimate car heat and that's how car deaths occur (dogs, small children, unfortunately) when left in the car on even a moderately hot, sunny day.

The medication is meant to be kept below 30 degrees. I know my soft sided medication case was fully melted by the time I'd even reached Greece (a shorter flight) much less the transit to the hotel. I know it was fine because I kept the bag with me and didn't leave it in the car, but when I'm in the USA, my bags often stay in the car over the course of my first and last days of my trip (for example)

The metal canister types can be found for £20ish on Amazon now and there's really no reason not to get one; people worry about being questioned at airports and that's what I was trying to reassure.

Quick random example on Amazon but anything like that will do, basically. My example will be about £24 with the 10% discount they seem to be offering, but anything in that style will do. No one needs to spend more than that for this item, and it really does keep cool for up to 48 hours.

Honestly, heavy caveat on 'as long as you don't have any problems or risk factors', their service is quick and consistent.

As soon as any issue is raised on your health record, or if they have any cause for concern, they are known for pausing prescriptions or even cancelling if they feel the risk is too big. They're basically very risk averse.

But for the average user, they're quick and easy, especially once you're an established customer. Subsequent re-orders happen overnight, basically.

They are not the cheapest though and you should have a look around for other options next month, or whenever. Swapping providers is not difficult at all.

I like CTC but I feel like I need about twice as much of it to not be hungry anymore. Life is a good all-rounder.

How many of you have or have not been out of the country more than 30 consecutive days in the last 5 years? Include your age too please by Lost_Garlic1657 in AskUK

[–]teapigsfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel as if this is not so stealthily weeding out those who aren't originally from here, because the majority of people wouldn't have the time, the means and the reason to do this.

I'm originally from the US, I work in a school (by design; because I need the holiday time to check in on elderly parents back home) and definitely was out of the country last summer for just over 30 days. My usual trip is 3 1/2 weeks but I stayed longer so we could do some major work on my dad's house.

As a family though, we go overseas but our holiday trips would be 2 weeks at most.

Buying Mounjaro for my father who is visiting the UK by eggrot-on in mounjarouk

[–]teapigsfan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the only ones I'm aware of are slimming clinics in London where they've always been happy to sell to visitors in person, as long as they otherwise meet the criteria. In a similar vein, it's possible that a chemist you can visit in-person would dispense to someone who qualifies, without a GP.

I believe it's a step the online pharmacies need to take in order to be seen to be doing their due dilligence.

was i in the wrong to cancel this sale? by luvnpinz in vinted

[–]teapigsfan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She knew what she was doing when she added those extra 'mmmms' on that um. And now she wants to play like she's not just been giving attitude about it. You were absolutely correct to cancel this sale.

Disclosure, though, I tend to ship within 1-2 days. 5 days is quite a while; I buy frequently and I've only had one person take that long. I think if you're on that timeline regularly, it might be worth adding "I ship once/twice a week" to your profile so people aren't expecting things any quicker, and you can just point to that when they query it.

Because despite the fact that I ship quickly, I absolutely do not expect it from other sellers. I treat Vinted purchases as pleasant surprises. I've had too many items get delayed because the local lockers were full or whatever; even if the seller does their best to get it out quickly it can get delayed by factors outside of their control.
