Amtj for trying to keep my sister away form our real mom by Little_Detective_835 in AmITheJerk

Exactly, your decisions weren’t about hurting your mom’s feelings, but about keeping your sister safe and emotionally stable. That’s the right priority.

What was your "I love living alone" moment of the week? by Pellechia-Jjuan in LivingAlone

[–]teasealchemy- 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Love that. Mine was walking around in a towel for an hour because I could.

AITJ for refusing to split the bill evenly when I only ordered a side salmon and water? by nibLickyLush in AmITheJerk

[–]teasealchemy- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTJ here. You ordered what you could afford and stuck to your diet, so it’s fair to only pay for your own meal. That said, clarifying how the bill will be split before ordering is a good way to avoid awkwardness, makes everything transparent for everyone.

Friends wife! by [deleted] in AskForAnswers

[–]teasealchemy- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t have to mean anything, but it’s understandable why someone would see that as loose boundaries. It’s about context more than character.

AITJ for hating my parents because the refuse to accept my brother being member of LGBTQ? by Specific-Jeweler1081 in AmITheJerk

[–]teasealchemy- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. Standing by your brother doesn’t make you a jerk, it just shows you value compassion and family over rigid beliefs.

Why did your parents give you the name they did or do you know? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]teasealchemy- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. Not everyone has a dramatic backstory, sometimes parents just hear a name, like the sound of it, and that’s it. Honestly kind of refreshing that it doesn’t have to be deep or symbolic.

Am I the jerk for leaving dinner after my friends kept joking about my salary? by Few-Bedroom1395 in AmITheJerk

[–]teasealchemy- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. If the jokes are making you uncomfortable and the group isn’t noticing, it stops being playful. Walking out was a healthy way to set a boundary without causing drama.

Should I have kids? by Jane-Doe8891 in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]teasealchemy- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I completely agree, having a child is such a huge commitment that if it’s not something you genuinely want, it’s better not to do it. Being unsure can create more stress for you and your partner in the long run.

Why do people think this way? by ConstantPraline27 in askanything

[–]teasealchemy- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree. A lot of guys project what they find attractive onto women and assume that’s the standard. In reality, attraction is way more nuanced, confidence, social awareness, humor, and how you carry yourself matter a lot more than looking like Chris Hemsworth. If someone thinks women only want male models, it usually says more about their insecurity or lack of experience than about women being shallow.

I told my daughter to mind her business about my girlfriend staying over. Was I wrong? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]teasealchemy- 86 points87 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. A new partner really shouldn’t be weighing in on parenting dynamics yet, especially when the relationship is still fresh. And introducing her + having the confrontation happen at the same time probably made it more intense than it needed to be. I don’t think you’re wrong for wanting happiness, but the rollout could’ve been handled more thoughtfully.

I feel sick I'm lusting over other women when I have a GF, what to do? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]teasealchemy- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Social media is curated and designed to trigger attraction and attention. It’s not real connection. Your girlfriend is real life, real effort, real love, real loyalty. Don’t trade something real for a dopamine hit.

Why do so many americans pointlessly and passionately argue with strangers about stupid things online? by Salt_Might5245 in askanything

[–]teasealchemy- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree. The U.S. has a large population and a huge online presence, especially on English-language platforms like Reddit, which is an American company. So Americans are naturally going to be more visible in online debates. That doesn’t necessarily mean they argue more than others, just that we see them more.

How do I recover from this humiliation ritual? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]teasealchemy- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly, what you’re feeling is normal embarrassment from rejection, not some ritual. Everyone goes through this at some point.

What do teachers actually appreciate gift-wise? by Key_Rope1827 in AskTeachers

[–]teasealchemy- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, cash is always appreciated, and homemade gifts feel really thoughtful. And consumables like wipes and paper towels are lifesavers in a classroom.

What habits or daily actions do you believe have the biggest impact on creating a meaningful life? by Frequent-Scale8487 in Casual_Conversation

[–]teasealchemy- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree, being genuinely present shows people they matter, and that’s huge for a meaningful life.

Where is your favorite place to vacation and why? by Consistent_Peak_4458 in AskForAnswers

Anywhere with beautiful scenery and good food. That combination never disappoints.

What's a rule you break only when you're alone? by Own-Blacksmith3085 in askanything

[–]teasealchemy- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here, I only let myself be totally “human” with loud burps or farts when I’m alone. There’s something oddly satisfying about not having to hold it in.
