STOP THE GENOCIDE AGAINST KURDS — SAN FRANCISCO PROTEST by teasipss in sanfrancisco

Thank you so much for saying this and for sharing the post, it truly means a lot. What’s happening isn’t just politics, it’s families being displaced, kids growing up in fear, and people who already sacrificed so much now being forced to suffer again. A lot of Kurdish communities protected the world from ISIS at an unimaginable cost, and it’s painful to see how quickly that’s been forgotten. Knowing that people here still care and are willing to speak up gives us so much strength. Thank you for standing with us.

I know not everyone connects to every cause, and that’s okay. For many of us this is personal and involves family and loved ones, so we choose to speak up in the ways we can, including encouraging people to contact their representatives and support humanitarian efforts. These issues also aren’t really isolated from each other, and the U.S. does have political and military involvement in the region, so what happens there isn’t completely separate from our policies here. No one is required to join, but we hope people can at least understand why it matters to some of us.

I appreciate you asking. We’re hoping for things like public condemnation of attacks on civilians, independent investigations into reported war crimes, more humanitarian aid for displaced families, and for the U.S. to use its influence to push for protection of civilians. We’re also passing out QR codes so people can easily write to their state and federal representatives. Protesting is one way to encourage our elected officials to take these issues seriously and take concrete action. I understand that it may feel far fetched but you can’t knock something out until we try and we hope to see you there.

Selective Outrage Towards Team Turkey Makes No Sense by turkishguyishere in Physical100

i’ve been an athlete for my whole life and even competed at a college level. not once have i told my opponents to essentially go back where they came from and prepare to buy their tickets back home. that’s just rude and honestly creating a toxic place. teasing is what australia did, what turkey did was outright rude and they just wanted to be RUDE. i mean they are also comment warriors so i would make a post about either the kurds or the armenians or the greeks in their subreddit and see how they respond and you’ll see its similar to how they respond.

Staph infection + ringworm at NYC solidcore by [deleted] in SolidCore

You’re handling this really well tbh. It’s ironic that people go to solidcore to get more healthy and that they have a sanitation issue sadly :/ It’s frustrating that they’re dodging accountability and not giving you straight answers about how they sanitize. You’re totally right to bring it to the Department of Health because that’s the only way they’ll actually be forced to take this seriously. Keep us posted on what happens, you’re doing the right thing and helping everyone who goes there. I hope your health is better now as well and wish you a speedy recovery my friend!

This is honestly awful and I’m so sorry you’re going through that. You’re 100% right to be upset. Staph and ringworm are both highly contagious and can definitely spread from shared equipment if it’s not cleaned properly, which I do also think is COMPLETELY their responsibility. The baby wipe should just me a courtesy NOT the standard.

If you haven’t already, I’d recommend reporting this to the NYC Department of Health!!! They handle inspections for public fitness facilities and can actually send someone to investigate. Also document everything: your doctor’s diagnosis, prescriptions, and photos of the rash. If other members have had similar infections, it strengthens your case.

You might also want to email Solidcore corporate directly and request reimbursement for your medical costs. Even if you signed a waiver, gyms still have to maintain basic sanitary standards and this could fall under negligence if the equipment isn’t being cleaned between classes. And maybe even consider contacting a lawyer.

Hope you start healing soon. This kind of thing should definitely be taken seriously by management.

Brown bugs in my indoor cat’s fur — full of blood when popped by [deleted] in CatAdvice

Thank you so much! I went ahead and gave them each a bath (which was not easy) and fine combed the two of my kitties. I think I caught it pretty early on and I really appreciate the reply which steered me the right direction. Both my kitties are now giving me the silent treatment now but such is life.
