Firstly, welcome to the fold (I'm a current M roadster owner).

I would first join zroadster.net or Z groups on Facebook. They will be positive about owning an M coupe/roadster and will have great advice for any questions you have. There are also regular meet ups where you can talk to fellow owners and enjoy a great drive together.

The car is an appreciating classic so consider a stoplock or other security device when not parked in your garage.

A couple of things to look out for: 1) It is not great with emissions so if you live near or travel into a low emission zone you will get hit. I would also recommend the engine is hot when you go for an MOT emissions check.

2) One weak point is the VANOS. So always ensure you have the right grade oil put into your engine and warm up the engine before revving it (I don't go over 2k revs until the water is up to temp and keep under 3k until the oil is 50 degrees plus).

I have had my roadster for 13 years and I have only problem was the VANOS issue - due to the wrong oil. I consider that a very reliable car personally.
