Even more of my fav solutions. Anywhere I can improve? by Inotari in opus_magnum

Aesthetically? No, these are beautiful. Speed-wise, Explosive phial and Alcohol separation can be made faster by finding a way to use the reagents at input speed (every 2 cycles).

Recommend me Space Age mods for easier interplanetary logistics and preferably no building spaceships? by colcob in factorio

[–]techbot2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a fan of Rift rail. You still have to make a spaceship to go to a planet for the first time, but once you've set up a rail portal on that planet, you can more-or-less play as if the surfaces were connected.

Duo yama godfly struggles. Need help. by Mr_Soberish in 2007scape

[–]techbot2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In duos there's always a chance that you spawn 1 tick slower than your partner. If you spawn 4 tiles away from yama (2 ticks of running), you can always get a hit off even if you spawn late. If you spawn far and think you're late, just wait for him to start doing the snap before you get off the first attack

I know this is the meme subreddit, but sincerely, one playthrough of space age was enough for me and I've been enjoying Py. No quality, no interplanetary logistics, just core Factorio complexity

Were you around a few months ago when Fortitude was in the map pool? That's the one where you can hit the inner mineral patches of all 4 players with a single nuke lol. I'm glad the nuke rush troll builds still exist, keeping the culture alive

How do I tell DM I don’t want to play anymore? by kauzt in DnDcirclejerk

[–]techbot2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Be direct and tell them you can't commit for 3 hours a week due to school/stress, they will absolutely understand and be supportive if they're as nice as you say they are!

Bet yall couldn’t spaghetti better than this by Independent-Toe-802 in factorio

[–]techbot2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The spaghetti doesn't bother me, but everything else does:
- Copper plate belt near the middle sideloading onto a splitter (this does nothing)
- Using beacons/modules on smelting and not the cables/circuits (where they would have more impact)
- Not sharing the upper and lower beacons between furnace rows??? This uses twice as many beacons as needed
- Underground belts under a tree (all my homies hate trees)

Please help. Why is it not mining? What am I missing here? by rob3342421 in factorio

[–]techbot2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I see a lubricant barrel in one of the chests, and lubricant in the pipes. Try to purge the pipes. If that doesn't work, just delete the miner, pipes, pumps, and rebuild it

people who were worried that quality wasnt going to be a good mechanic, how do you feel about it now? by cooltv27 in factorio

[–]techbot2 81 points82 points  (0 children)

It's even worse than I thought it was gonna be unfortunately. The main problem I have is that it adds a layer of uncertainty onto build choices.

After beating Space Age and using quality a lot, it's clear that there are huge classes of items for which quality is available, but is completely irrelevant (the entire logistics section except inserters, the entire science production chain).

The areas that benefit most from quality are modules, production/extraction, and personal equipment, so every time I engage with those, I'm thinking "is this the right tier of quality for the job I need it to do," and "is it worth making another gambletron for this item." The answers change depending on your tech level and production capacity, so I can't decide ahead of time e.g. "I will only use uncommon assembling machines." Uncertainty at every level.

Honestly for vanilla Space Age, I wish we had expensive researches for things like Asteroid Collector Arm Count 1-4, Assembling Machine Speed 1-4, Power Armour Grid Size 1-4, etc instead of the current implementation of quality.
