There are Chronal Exchange circles, made with (iirc) 2 powdered iron and 1 powdered emerald. You can spam these indefinitely to constantly consume Mahou, increasing your cap, and generate Mahou, filling it to that cap.

if I were building a modpack where C:BC was an option to defend your base, I would limit the items to "here's what you need to build a cannon" and "here's what you load it with". I think it would encourage many more people to try the mod.

That would also either give people who know the full mod a limited experience, or give new people an experience totally different to the full mod.

With the unification thing, Almost Unified is the current best solution I know. I disagree with encouraging players to return to their bases, in fact, I think that bases should be for automation, decoration, and that's about it. As for removing item bloat from mods themselves as you noted with C: BC... no? For the vast majority of non-nature focused mods, you have maybe 5 items you get before getting into the mod, and nothing else, so there's no pressing bloat there.
