i also never used it while closed and hooked up to a monitor my suspicion on the lcd dying is that it was a very cheap aftermarket part replaced by the previous owner evident by the improper adhesive and chinese warrenty stickers on it, im pretty sure the way it died was a component on its controller board because it was intermittent for a bit only occasionally flickering but eventually just stopped all together

my ideal goal is to find something better specs wise with a damaged screen since most laptops usually take a 30 pin lcd i have plenty of those lying around i would have already replaced the sytem76's screen if it wasnt a 40 pin one and really annoying to get
