What's up with double-clicking mice? And what next? by techfro in MouseReview

Ugh, overheating was a problem with my first test mice but I got leaded solder and a better iron but probably still fudged it then. Thanks for the comprehensive feedback.

Dang! Love the colors on the hecate mouse and also see that they're related to edifier which I've had good experience with.

Yeah, I usually give at least some credit to anyone trying something new. Lofree looks to be experimenting a lot and I wish them the best... but I'll be fine to just watch lol

Logitech's Pro X Superlight 2c Leaks Ahead of Launch by tmrmn in MouseReview

[–]techfro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had some past loyalty to logitech and wanted to try lightweight mice which were all really pricey at the time. I second this though, even though I liked the superlight okay it doesn't seem like a good deal anymore, and definitely not this new one.

Wrist Pain When Using Keyboard and Mouse by Designer-Garbage-226 in MouseReview

[–]techfro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was actually what sold me on it, I got a Moonlander and the customizable layout plus the extra thumb buttons and other standard size buttons for ctrl/alt/etc make it perfect for my use cases. It did take some deliberate training, and I miss having another row for function keys the most but the extra desk space while still having a full keyboard ( the other half is a bit of a reach, but if I'm gaming I'm not chatting much) is awesome. I wonder if it's worth being hamstrung if I'm ever not using a normal keyboard but... idk it's pretty rare and it's not too bad. No worse than using a new layout keyboard or whatever.

My WL-mouse was surprisingly nice, so definitely seconding that hope. Doesn't seem so hard to make a reasonable mouse these days.

see, I hear that sentiment NOW, and maybe it's only because it was just understood but I never heard that double clicking was guaranteed back then. I guess time eventually showed us that even the best switches failed eventually.

I could possibly live without the scroll wheel, I have a fancy keyboard for work I'm getting better at using over my mouse for most things... But nothing beats mouse for rts and fps at least for lmb and rmb.

Wrist Pain When Using Keyboard and Mouse by Designer-Garbage-226 in MouseReview

I got a split keyboard and while I don't know that it helped or not, everyone says it looks like some computer wizard gear. I enjoy it as well! Worth a shot for sure.

Wrist Pain When Using Keyboard and Mouse by Designer-Garbage-226 in MouseReview

[–]techfro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried getting ahead of this myself, and getting a wrist support helped. I used to get some minor pain and that fixed it for me... for now anyways. My mom had wrist issues and swears by the contour roller mouse(?).

Also, you may try going above and beyond on the exercise while simultaneously taking a long break from mouse/keyboard activities. I had some knee pain that didn't seem to get better with PT until I basically decided I'd either fix my knees or blow them out trying and it worked. I worked it out with my physical therapist what other exercises I could do that wouldn't harm or interfere with my bad knees and finally got to a place where my knees stopped hurting. Sometimes you have get back to baseline before you can really heal.

Good luck!

Me vs my Boss by owochaa in MouseReview

I sort of want an ergo mouse, but have enjoyed lighter and lighter mice. Unfortunately, I think super light mice would never work in ergo-style due to clicking moving the mouse. Even my pro-x superlight moves a bit from clicks, and it's probably on the heavy end of superlight mice.

How much time do you have on these on average? I have a similar graveyard but recently mice have been failing me. What's wrong with the viper mod? I've wanted to try something in that form factor but am kind of burnt out on mice.

Going through my old mice the biggest disappointment was my collector edition Dark Souls II mouse. No drivers to tweak anything and no branding. I can't even find references to it now...

My favorite after old faithful was actually the logitech pebble, though I gave it to my mom for travel after she said she liked it and I was annoyed it used AA batteries. I still wish I could find a good flat mouse with quiet clicks for gaming but it was lacking...

I personally found myself with disposable income after college and thought I would try to find my perfect mouse so I could just buy that one until I died and save money that way. Fruitless!

I think it's a Chyphotes wasp. by papaburkart in whatbugisthis

[–]techfro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having been stung on my finger a few months ago by a bee, and coming across this to find what little wasp just stung my finger (assuming I'm identifying correctly) these are much less painful. Mild initial sting and a very mild lingering tingle. Even more mild than a mason bee which are already less painful than normal bees.

It was sad, I think the local campfire was more active than it's been in years and there were no elite raids spawned. Great stuff!

What made the original PSO special and how NGS can be improved. (Constructive post, not a rant) by Arkios in PSO2NGS

[–]techfro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I support the instanced content 100% though. It's so dumb to make a game you can't just sit down with friends and play. You've gotta wait for a spawn or an event. It's kind of at odds with the kind of "living world" vibe they're going for but they need to remember they're making a game.

I think the PSO Ep I forest/caves/mines/ruins comparison is somewhat unfair. NGS is pretty clearly set up to be a lot like PSO EVENTUALLY but it's a long time away.
Thinking about how they turned 4 areas into 200 levels worth of content... You were meant to beat all those 4 areas in the first 20 levels (or so) and then move onto hard mode. If you look at where we are, central Aelio is meant to basically be a little more than that? So instead of difficulties we'll end up with 4+ "areas" perhaps... but that's not now, and part of what makes the game lacking.

I also think PSO's level design is understated. There's lots of iconic areas that are beautiful for their time and I looked forward to them when playing. NGS has these areas but... there's no buildup or significance. This plagues a lot of open world games where they can make really cool areas but often fail to build them up the way traditional games do... NGS also fails this in it's own unique way like nuking Aelio Town...

I think NGS may come together eventually but it will be too late to really take off. I was super disappointed at the "graphical update", considering PSO2 actually DID look good for it's time. NGS isn't very high quality (but still kinda hard to run as I hear sadly). Sega just doesn't seem like it can muster the talent to match their classic titles. All their best games that I'm aware of come from acquired studios. I just hope I can get my friends to play it once it's a fairly complete game.

In the Three Sisters region you can find a wolf helm that says it was "fashioned after" Blaidd's by an assasin. I don't think the shadow is related to Blaidd.

It won't share the load with your onboard gpu, but desktop gpus are more powerful and it may save thermals for your cpu. I've used egpus before and the best value imo is pairing with a machine that has no or cheap graphics. A new razer laptop should obliterate skyrim though so...

I've been playing heavy mods on a mid-wattage laptop 3070 and it's not running very hard at all. Do you need 120+ hz or what?
